The biggest annoyance I had was that GL didn't treat the PT to the consistency and seriousness that the project warranted. I say that it warrants consistency and seriousness because I was waiting for them for a decade or more. And now he has released 3 sub-par Star Wars movies as prequels, and no one can ever change or remake them unless they're GL himself. And that just frustrates me to no end. It hasn't stopped me from rewriting the stories, though...

these numerous formats you speak of are VHS and Laserdisc, so really there's not numerous formats. Just 2.

most likely he kept them..

think about it this way...
in the future if he ever decides to monkey with them again im sure he's going to want to use the source material.

there's no way he would trash the original copy... that would be like burning the mona lisa...

*Lucas then tells McCallum that he never intended for him to give the matches, but at the time that's all he could afford...

he then tells McCallum that in reality he was supposed to give the matches to Lucas... therefore Lucas does not look like a bad guy...

See, here's the thing. I LOVE the mind that conceived the Original-Original Trilogy. Absolutely brilliant. A work of genius. Everything after that has brought this brilliance and genius into doubt. HOW COULD THE SAME MIND THAT CONCEIVED THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY CREATE SUCH AN ABOMINATION IN THE PREQUELS? The George Lucas of today disappoints me to no end. He used to be like Luke, staring out at a Tatooinian twin sunset, but now he has fallen to the Dark Side, a Darth Vader of a corporate Empire with no redemption in sight.

I don't want to hate him, but he is slowly but surely killing Luke with his changes to the OT, and that is worse than merely creating an abomination. To journey from genius to mediocrity is disappointing and sad, but to pervert genius is truly twisted indeed.

I am torn - bashing George Lucas and the Prequel Trilogy is relieving, but I have this vain hope that George may happen upon this site one day and all of a sudden change his mind. Hey...the Original-Original Trilogy WAS better...I should release it again! And that makes me think I should go easy. 'Sif it'll happen.

Then again, he's surrounded by 'yes-men' anyway.

Probably not the response you were expecting, and I was a bit Wagnerian in my delivery, but oh well...

No, I don't think George has had the technology up until now to make Han Solo the good guy he wanted him to be in '97 and last year. In the new 2007 version, Han Solo will allow Greedo to shoot and miss him three times before giving him a complete psychoanalysis to get to the root of his trigger happy persona and his lack of firing skills. Then Han will hand over the keys to his condo in Florida for Greedo to crash at.

Nah, that'll only happen in the Special Edition. And then when it comes out on DVD, we'll both shoot at the same time, but unfortunately, you'll still get your head blown off...
