I think you’re reading way more those rough sketches that what the images show. The first image provides no information on wardrobe at all. It’s just a dark figure. Those aren’t fabric lines on the figure laying down, just normal flow lines in this type of figure sketch.
Obviously Lucas likes scantly clad damsels, it shows up in RotJ, but those pics provide no evidence on plans for a nude Leia in Star Wars.

I really love the deleted Luke & Biggs scenes.
It’s the only time we get to see Luke being himself, comfortably, around people he knows & likes.
And I like this Luke. The scene with Luke n’ Biggs having a beer is just great. Luke is cool & funny. Makes me sad that this personal moment isn’t in the film & we never actually get to see who Luke really was. Just him whining to his uncle.

For those of us who had the comics, novel, and storybook growing up, it was baffling that it wasn’t in the movie. As the radio drama expanded on it even more, you’d think Lucas would have reinstated those scenes in 1997. Putting the Biggs’ reunion/vouching for Luke’s piloting skills scene back in only pronounces their absence.

I was thinking about a moment from the Obi-Wan vs. Vader duel when Vader says “You should not have come back” and Obi-Wan flashes a very concerned look.

Obi

My thought was when considering a prequel rewrite, to make this bit the time when Obi-Wan realizes that it’s Anakin who is Vader, not the “other pupil.” He thought that there could be a chance (i.e., saw Anakin using the dark side more and more), but never truly realized it until this moment. Obi-Wan remains resolute despite the revelation, with his smirk towards Vader now meaning something like, “Anakin, that’s your son out there. I’m making damn sure he’s getting away from you now and I’ve got a guy who’ll help him kill you. Your obsession with me hasn’t changed since the Clone Wars, so you probably can’t sense him at this moment.”

I like the idea of Obi-Wan being in the dark about Vader’s true identity all these years, as it adds a little bit of dramatic weight to each time Obi-Wan tries to tell Luke about Vader. Heck, it even gives his final conference with Luke in ESB a bit more weight. He can’t tell Luke the truth he just found out (and probably told Yoda), so as not to give him that same disconcertion he had during the ANH duel. Obi-Wan knows that Luke won’t be able to take this revelation well, as unlike him, he hasn’t had the many years to ponder it.

And maybe the original “Darth Vader” was Obi-Wan’s other pupil, and he disappeared or was killed, but Anakin assumed his name for some reason? Interesting concept.

^ totally agree ! When the 1997 Special edition was announced , this was the thing I most wanted to see and I was really bummed out when it did not happen . First time I got to see the Luke /Biggs Anchorhead scenes was on the Behind The Magic cd-rom a year later . That storybook had me imagining what it would have been like in the film for 20 years at that point .

For sure. I loved the storybook!
Someday I’ll get around to putting the beer drinking scene back in as in my signature.

Darth Vader only has one outfit. It’s made of head-to-toe black leather and he hardly ever takes it off. He wears it all the time, and his house is on a sweltering volcano planet with rivers of molten lava.

Forget Tarkin’s foul stench, imagine how bad Vader must smell.

I would think it’s cleaned when he’s taking a bacta nap.

Seeing Star Wars for the first time at the age of 8, I recall wondering at the time how Darth Vader blew his nose… After Empire, rumours went round at school that he had tubes coming out of his nostrils and up to the top of his head, so that all the cr*p ended up there. God only knows why I still remember this!
