Yeah, woulda been cool if A Digital Man put that in. Hope someone will. Be a lot easier to read them, without the distracting counter.

Happyness in now, with and Completionist-sake, of gratitude The Dark One when sending from to is a.b.starwars.

It looks pretty clean, I wonder if it's from the DVD version?

I just noticed "Star War..." in the subject line LOL! "In the far away galaxy..."

Heh heh... 00:09:46,766 to, well, a while later.

When edited with seeing of stupidity way...

One day I found... 10 years had got behind me. Next day was worse.

Download  shows from Cable DVR (Updated! Yes, it needs a rewrite, but it's worth slogging through, anyway).

I'm planning to make a "Limited Collector's Edition STAR WAR: Backstroke of the West" DVD next week when I have time. Basically, it'd be video from the official DVD with the Backstroke subs.

That's something I'm gonna be trying to pick up once finished, most definitely!

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

If I understand correctly, there is no difference between the theatrical and the DVD versions of Ep. 3. Which to my thinking means a quick conversion from SRT -> SubPicture and a reauthor.
Should be a 15 minute project. Can't wait to see it.

Can any of you guys think of a more obnoxious title?

Super Hi-Definition Ultra Limited Collector's Signature Edition x10

I'm trying to slap as many "ooh, ah" terms on it as possible.

Well... if anyone uses that file to author a new version from the retail disc, please post the updated file. It will save everyone else a lot of time.

Has anyone resynched the subtitles to the retail DVD yet? Please post them, as I'd LOVE to see this (and many others)!

I think the Backstroke titles are so absurd and obnoxious that you don't need to say anything else. 'Star War Episode III: Backstroke of the West' is perfect just as it is. The original Chinese sub writer is the star here. The mere existence of these subs is nerdy enough; don't spoil a relatively little-known insider thing with lots of added 'humour'. Anything added will just erode what was insanely funny about this in the first place.

I wish Lucasfilm had stuck the 'Backstroke' subs on as an Easter Egg. Woulda beat the bootleggers at their own game (no point whatsoever to get the boot, if the subs are on the retail version), given Uncle George or one of his many minions a chance to explain and laugh off (and gain some street cred from) the pathetic job of subbing, and have been subtle enough that only uber-nerds like us would care about finding them and playing the whole movie with them.

If anyone's thinking of making a cover, might I suggest something almost identical to the retail box, but with a subtle, re-written blurb describing the history of this gem? Don't go makin' it all NSFW with 'R2, do you is f**king' or anything.

I haven't received any replies to this, so I'll ask the above question again... Has anyone resynched the above .srt to the retail DVD yet?

I am a total noobie, but it really doesn't look like it would be that hard to do, based on what is in the srt file. I just don't yet have the time or abilities...yet.

Great find, Botfew.  The transcript is read word for word from the chapter I just watched but the interesting thing is the non-words audio seems to be flawless.  the music cues and sound effects are there, it's just the audio's been replaced!  but this is upon first review (and i'm no expert) will try to play them all at the same time to check.

This sounds professionally done! Some of the voices are so spot on, I had to listen to it twice to realize it wasn't the original actors.

The $64,000 question is, who did this and why? It's like this came from a bizarro universe or something. ;)

In any case, this must be preserved for all time!

I've also been wondering if there are Chinese boots of the other films with badly translated subtitles...

Has anyone contacted "TheThirdgather's" on Youtube to see if they would accept help in getting the entire dubbed version?

From what they wrote on their channel, they are having problems getting the whole movie. It's apparently a crazy bootleg DVD with ten movies crammed on  it...

I was about to post, it would be hilarious if someone did a dub of this...

Then I scrolled further down the thread.

Just amazing!

Edit: I ripped the 6 parts he has uploaded on youtube in 720x480. I sent off a message to him to see if I can get him to burn me a copy of his original disc.

This just seems too good not to get out there for everyone to see.

I've also sent a message to thethirdgathers.  When botw emerged multiple people located copies and if Winterson hadn't uploaded screen caps, others have said they were about to.  So cross your fingers and eventually we might be able to listen to this audio engrish dub.

These audio actors have got to be easier to track down then the original chinese subtitler.  Maybe the individual behind this backstroke version is a softie for Star War, so he got a pronunciation coach to teach him this engrish and they spent (the last 5 years?!, this is a big undertaking) learning and dubbing the subtitles.  Too weird, and too much phun.  Can't wait to hear the whole thing.

It's like listening to a rather good amateur Shakespeare production.

It's much better than the original in places.

I too thought of The Bard when listening to those Backstroke Dubbed clips.

Too awesome. How cool would it be to watch the entire film with that "dubbed" track? Even if they just released it as an audio file... and then somebody could cobble together a custom DVD from the official with the subtitle track as an option. ;)
