PSA for anyone interested in this cut of the film! It is finally getting a widescreen, 4K, official release, along with the new 4K Director’s Edition. There are several options to get the Director’s Edition (standalone, the new 6 movie box set, and the limited edition “The Complete Adventure” box set containing the three different cuts of the film). Please note that the ONLY way to get the SLV is to get the “Complete Adventure” box set, which it up for pre-order right now on Amazon. Release date is September 6th. Don’t sleep on this, because it is a limited edition.

This project is officially over, since it’s being officially released via 4K disc, as GuitarClef stated.

Right down to the audio being DD 2.0 on the 4K disk, meaning it’s the original stereo mix they utilized for that version

They even digitally recreated the transition subs unlike the older 4K disk which just used generic white subs

Is this still available for download? If so, I’d love to get a copy of it.

Thanks in advance.

I bought the latest boxed set which has a 4k version of the SLV but I have neither a 4k TV nor a 4k player.

What are the odds of getting a version downgraded to HD?

I can’t testify to improved quality because I can’t view it doh.

The 4K version is actually preferable because it also fixes the infamously incomplete effects shot

Yeah I think I have seen some stills. Looks good. The 4k SLV is seamless branching from the 4k Theatrical Cut. I have watched the bluray of the Theatrical. I’m interested to see if they managed any colour correction or fixed the dirty footage of McCoy in Kirk’s quarters. Or even if they equalised the background hum and effects.

Get a 4K TV and a 4K player. BOOM, problem solved. Personally because of prior history with random devices, I don’t LG or Panasonic.
With me, I’ve been wanting to import the UK The Director’s Edition which has the SLV on 4K as mentioned seamless branching since it also has some BDs. I can wait for it, since it seems it’s in mediocre not very sturdy packaging, and would rather a 5-Disc 4K Viva Elite case.
So glad this project didn’t need anymore work, especially with it’s overuse of DNR with the upscaling program. OUCH.
