This will now be the preferred version of the film for me. Does anyone else have the glitch? I may re-download it to see if it goes away.

No glitch that I could see on my file. I played it on the PC with Media Player Classic.
I redownloaded it and its perfect. It is DEFINITELY my favorite version of the film now!

The file doesn’t have chapter markers. I’m not sure why it glitched for you. Maybe try again like Video Collector suggested?

Oh cool just noticed the update. I’m glad it’s working now.

I appreciate the feedback guys. Makes the whole project well worth it. Thanks!

Hi guys!

Just registered, this place looks great!

I have owned the SLV on VHS for years, but it is about worn out! Would love to be able to replace it with slaynmage’s
new reconstruction. Is it available for download somewhere? If so, could somebody PM me with a location?

Thanks very much for any help. Much appreciated.

Hi guys,

I too am new here, mainly drawn in by the prospect of seeing the SLV for the first time in years, the version I too grew up with. All other versions never seemed the same for me.

A huge thank you to slaynmage and everyone involved for what sounds like a massive effort to create this for us. Just goes to show what us fans can do!

If someone could give me a steer please as to where I can go to download this it would be greatly appreciated.

Live Long & Prosper!

I’d love to replace my aging VHS tape with this, does anyone have a direct download or magnet link?

I’ve been putting off rewatching The Motion Picture for months, hoping to do the SLV. The laserdisc was full screen so I wanted to see it in the widesceeen glory. The theatrical cut is very boring, and will be a while before an HD directors edition.
I would love to watch this version, and look forward to hopefully being able to locate it.

Had an initial quick look, and I must say so far is impressive at 2 minutes in 😃

Where is the audio sourced from?

Finally got around to watching this in the past couple of nights. It is a movie I can say that I have rarely watched in one go. Always too much of a movie in a single sitting.
Still, was awesome to see the scenes that are missing from the theatrical, which I find boring. The extra scenes help give something to look forward to.
The video quality was excellent, can barely fault it. The audio does have a lot of dropouts and crackly times. Has it been altered? The sound goes quiet to loud between some scenes, but this could be reinsertion of the deleted scenes from the original track.
I played this VHS over and over again in my youth, yet I do not recall the overture at the start ever being in the SLV. Have you added this? If so, potentially this could be the one time that using the D.E. overture with the starfield may actually be something to include.

Still, excellent work. This will be my go-to version.

I’m not sure what’s going on with the audio on your end. Plays without any issues on my end and I haven’t heard anyone else mention audio problems yet. Maybe try re-downloading it? The audio is from the laserdisc and no splices have been made apart from the correction of a musical glitch that made it into the LD release. (the details are available in the first post of this thread). My vhs did have the overture (an early 90’s copy, part of the set with the enterprise picture puzzle on the side).

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope you’ll try a re-download and hopefully the audio issues resolve for you. Another person had problems with some video glitches that were resolved by him re-downloading it.

I’ve been waiting years for someone to put together an HD version of the Special Longer Version. Since I first saw it on UK TV back in 1984 it’s been my preferred version of the film and for years I’ve had a rip from the old VHS tape of it on DVD. If there’s anyway someone here can share where I can download a version of this awesome sounding edit i’d sure appreciate it 😃

I’ve got to say your talent is incredible. The amount of time and effort you have put into restoring this is a remarkable feat. You should be extremely proud of what you have accomplished. That being said, where can I obtain a copy of this outstanding restoration?

Hello, Greetings from Poland. I am Star Trek fan since the 80s, when I first saw ST:TMP on my VHS tape. Today I own a BluRay and DVD of this movie among others. But I’d like to see Special Longer Edition once again, which I first saw years ago. For me it is the best cut, and the best movie actually. I’ve been searching for this edition for a quite time now, I dont have a knowledge and hardware neccessary to rip my own vhs (which is actually a copy of a copy, so the quality is bad - in Poland during late 80s it was impossible to get a decent copy of anything).
Finally I came here, and I hope someone will help me, pretty please!
Thanks in advance!

I would also appreciate a link, as I would like to view the Special Edition again. I used to own the VHS, but it’s been years since i had a working VHS player. If some one would be willing to share the link with me I would greatly appreciate it!

Aaah, the Special Longer Version of STTMP… I bought an UK VHS version maybe 20 years ago and I watched it over and over again, I still keep that tape. Lots of memories… Is it possible to have a link for this version?
Thanks a lot!

So, is this thing happening? Were You guys able to access the SLV? Pity it is so difficult to obtain this. For me STTMP was first contact with Star Trek, when I was about 10 or so. Life changer 😃

Hey folks. Sorry I was gone so long. I’ve been sidetracked tinkering with an old 1992 compaq computer. All of the bonuses on my mega account have expired so I’m going to have to find a new place to upload to share with you guys. The film also can be found on 'spleen and thestarwarstrilogy forums in the meantime. I’m sorry I was gone so long and I will find a way to share with those who have sent me messages. Thanks for the comments and support guys. I’ll get this back up soon.

Hello I am brand new here to this forum. I’d love to be able to see this version of the film. I’ve got the directors edition dvd and I was on the brink of buying the vhs and a vhs to dvd converter. But I’d love to see the high res version of your edition. Is there a place to buy/download it?
