I remember my little five year old mind getting blown away by this movie at the cinema back in '79.
(1979!!! Damn I’m getting old.)
This release sounds tantalizing and I’d love to see the Purist Version Electric Triangle.
Thanks for any directions.

Hello Electric Triangle,
Could i possibly have a link please to your versions of this.
I have always been a fan of ST:TMP and did have an early version long while back before my pc crashed.

Is V3 and purists version available please.
Many Thanks.

There’s just far too much artifacting there. It may look superficially sharper at a glance, but the detail it’s faking is both uncanny (look at the poor guy’s octopus arm in the lower left) and unfilmic (look at the weird gird pattern it put over everything because it confused MPEG compression for part of the scene). These problems are universal to all machine learning “AI” tools: they are not suited to restoration or archival work. Not to mention half of this plate is (a very outdated) HD scan already, so it’s not even increasing the resolution, just doing odd things to it.

If you want better-looking images, you need a better source. It’s that simple; there’s no magic shortcut you can take. I really hope Paramount greenlights a 4K restoration of this film, because that’s the only way we will get it in the quality it deserves.

Hi ElectricTriangle,

I discovered this forum and read about your edit of ST:TMP after digging around online, trying to find out about a Blu-ray release of the Director’s Edition.

Could you possibly send me a link for Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Director’s Edition HD Recreation v3 as I’m very curious to see the upscaling of the source material from the DE DVD.

I run a blog and have been writing for over a decade. I would very much like to review your recreation, as I’m sure it would be of interests to my readers.

Regards,

Roger Edwards.

Hello!

I am very interested in the Purist Edition: is there a way you could send me a link for the download?

I have seen both the theatrical version in HD and the Director’s Edition (I own the DVD) and I would really love to see the best of the two combined!

But some scene are not of the Director’s Cut. In the scene of kirk, spock and McCoy in the officers Lounge from the windows there’isnt the Warp Nacelle. When the Enterprise came in the V-Ger Location the scene is from the Teatrical Edition, not of the Director’s.

There are two versions of this, the purist edition has the further DVD effects you want. I will pm you the links.

Yes. If you have the link, is a pleasure download this edition.
Thanks.

when I watched the had recreation of Star Trek l liked how put in the effect of stars of the galaxy by all means by the shuttle that leaves and in the Purist Edition I liked how you color corrected the aliens that are in space which were unknown. Overall, Good Work
