Star Trek Into Darkness — Page 6

We've had too many trailers that give away the whole movie up front. I think Abrams and company are smarter than that.

To me it seems like the hype for STID is rather subdued. Maybe I'm out of touch. Even yesterday people were excited for the STID trailer, but MoS came along and blew it away.

Then again STID is coming out in a few weeks, and there isn't much more for Paramount to push for the film.

Given the tragic events of this week, Paramount might be nervous about hyping the movie too much given what at least one major plot point revolves around. The studio also has Iron Man 3 coming out first.

If you've followed sites like Trekmovie, the build up has been slow and steady since last fall. People know the movie is coming.

Sure, I would never put a film above a tragedy like the Boston explosions.

What I'm saying is that for the past few weeks the hype for STID has been pretty low key, at least from what I can tell. I think Paramount is riding the mysterious aspects of CumberHarrison and using more old-school style marketing.

Heather Langenkamp apparently is going to have a part in this movie, so I'm just the slightest bit tempted to see it eventually. As the part is allegedly small, though, and I'm really dead-set against ever seeing a performance by Zachary Quinto again, I'm not sure it would be worth the effort.

Quinto-hate. That's new.

I don't understand. He was really great in that show that only lasted one season, but got cancelled before it could get really really really really really really really really really really really really stupid.

Are you talking about that great mini-series Heroes? I'm so glad they never did a sequal miniseries, or even worse, spun it off into a weekly show.

That would be terrible! Especially if the writers kept writing THE SAME PLOT with conflicting continuity between them.

To be serious, Heroes might have been OK had they gone with the "new group every season" idea. They might as well have, since all of the actors played different characters every season.

Spoilers abound at IMDB from a Sydney screening.

I guess that means no internet for the next 3 weeks.

But haven't you already seen The Wrath of Khan? Why start now? ;)

I don't believe the spoilers that are going around for this post Sydney screening. Sounds too silly. I think it is a safe bet they are BS. If they are accurate, this movie may just be worse than the first one.

Of course, I thought something similar when plot details for the Lost season three finale, Through the Looking Glass, were leaked (only then I thought the leaked plot was too awesome to be true), but they turned out to be spot on.

I can't decide if learning what I've learned about the surprise was good to learn.
