Special version of ANH opening for Imax

Just before the first release of the special editions I went to see an IMAX film about special effects. It featured a making of the new CGI Stormtrooper/Dewback scene and included a "beefed up" opening battle scene from ANH amound a bunch of other films and such. Does anyone know if that special battle scene created for the IMAX film has ever made it into fan hands?

Ah, someone posted that a while back. Yes, I've seen it. They basically re-did the opening using similar techniques as they did in the 70s, but still managed to make a cooler opening.

I remember a screenshot somewhere. It may have been the Star Wars Insider. Can anyone confirm?

I remember posting about it a while back. I saw it at Great America's IMAX screen in Santa Clara years back. It was indeed an awesome thing. They used it to show the difference in IMAX. First they projected the original, and it basically had the same effect those SE commercials did(the ones with an X-wing on a TV screen). It was so tiny. Then they unvailed the redo. Quite an experience for one used to a 25 inch TV.

I'd love to see it again, even if not on IMAX.

Looking awesome! Would be quite cool if there was a better-quality version out there so someone could insert it in a fan edit, at least to watch it "in action".

Yes...think of the possibilitys...which makes people wonder now, that we have the technology-someone could, with time, money, and most of all, effort, create their own opening sequence, of SW, or change other battles. Intresting.

Damn, I still wish this was in IMAX. I would love to go see it.

I saw AOTC in IMAX and the only part that I liked was the battle between Anakin (blue saber) and Dooku (red saber). Why? Because me and my best friend looked at each other and said "What does this remind you of?" It was the closest we were going to come to seeing something like Luke battle against Darth Vader on Cloud City. You could feel the hum of the saber flow under your seat as each twirled from frame to frame.

Dammit. For the 2007 release, Lucas should forget about that crappy "1950's drive-in 3D" movie, and just put the trilogy in IMAX. Of course it would be the 2004 CGI-fest, but I would be temped to see them in IMAX anyway.

Thanks for the clip. It's been a decade since I last saw it. You should've seen it on IMAX.

The local IMAX theatres that aren't attached to megaplexes should still be able to get their hands on this. My son's class saw the IMAX Nutcracker @ the Odyssium in Edmonton in 2002, and that's a much older film. Maybe I'll put in a request @ the Kramer here in Regina.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I remember that 1996 'Special Effects' IMAX film. The Star Wars scenes were awesome even though I had seen the movies a dozen times before.

Can you reupload it? I used to have it but lost it.

EDIT: ...and just after I posted that, I found it.
