Spanish Theater-Recorded Bootleg Videocassette of Return of the Jedi

Hello dear Community,

I got my hands on a Spanish Bootleg Videocassette of Return of the Jedi. It’s Cam Source with TS Audio as well as a different Video Source as shown here on the Theater Performance Preservations.

The Movie is in quite good shape (according to a 40th-year-old bootleg)

I digitized the Tape on a Phillips VCR1000 PAL Version alongside a Sony DVD Recorder and then transferred the raw mpg. file (12.47 GB) onto my PC.

I’m a collector of old Theater Rips and this was quite a BIG found in my collection:)

Wow, what a great find! I know a few people here who may have an interest in this, but I’m mostly interested in the first 30 minutes. If you have full-length links to share, I would love to know about it.

The theatrical releases in Europe often had different text translations than you’d find for home video releases. For example, I see a slightly different translation for “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…”. Also, this appears to confirm that Return of the Jedi was very standardized in Jabba subtitle fonts (where Star Wars Greedo fonts were very random)

I’d also confirm that when you say “Spanish”, you mean from Spain, rather than the Latino release, which would also be a popular find!

Hi,

The release is from Spain and recorded inside an empty Movie Theater in 1983 (sadly it has no audience reactions in it) I can send you a link with a compressed version of the file. For the original one I would like to get in touch with the people you mentioned (if that’s possible) I’m a collector of old theater-recorded versions and I’m happy to put my find to the other versions that have been found.

here are also some shots for the titles:

For the people I think might be interested, I’ve sent them messages with a link to this thread. They’ll show up if they are – they’re interested in Spanish Star Wars, I’m just not sure they’re as interested in theatrical bootlegs as I am.

I would love a compressed link to the full file.

Like it!

ps: The Emperor and Luke final battle scene (with lightning bolts), fully or censored/cutted??
example: The GLOBO TV aired copy, before 1990 years. (cca. 1988-89.)
