I hope Master Sifo-Dyas finds this thread
Hey guys - have you heard about this German comedy, which is a spoof of Star Wars & Star Trek movies?

(T)Raumschiff Surprise - Periode 1

I liked in particular the good CGI effects and the way startrekkish heroes were portrayed, LOL

I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

I've seen the trailer, with a funny joke involving a teletransporter device. I've heard the movie itself is not that good.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Well, it's german comedy, so it's not really funny.

What is it with german comedies that are not really funny? Apart from the german-spoken episode of Monty Python of course.

Who says that German Comedies are not funny? They are. And (T)Raumschiff Surprise is really funny!
It´s not only an mess on Star Trek, bur even EP I ´s Pod race is punches and mashed together. But it is indeed hilarious.
The jokes are way bette, than even I did expect.

btw. even the name is a joke as ´Traumschiff is the name for a German Clone of America´s LOVEBOAT.

The SFX are great and even the music is as bombastic, as you may expect from Star Trek ;-)) It´s rather Goldsmith-like .

So don´t be too hard with your judgements.

PS: Are your comedies in your country (where you´re from???) always funny. I guess not .

So thats all. It is a small, German film, you may like.

Over sixty thousand times as powerful as Britain's great pre-war joke...and one which Hitler just couldn't match.
Hitler: My dog's got no nose.
German soldier: How does it smell?
Hitler: Awful!

LOL, guys, the truth is that "sense of humor" is not always universal. A large part of it is "regional" humor (not to mention "insider" jokes, running inside small groups), which will be always most appealing to the group (like nation etc.) where it was born. This is because such groups of people share experiences that may be not known elsewhere. Another problem are the jokes which rely solely on "playing with the language itself" and these can rarely be translated. And we can also say that some nations are more "fun loving" (e.g. France), while other are more serious (e.g. Finland).
The jokes from certain country may be more "international" than those from another. Thats why other nations create opinions that "country A jokes are cool, but those from country B suck". This is not necessarily based on who is your "traditional enemy or ally" - I can confirm from my experience that I love jokes from a certain country, which is ... err... not a natural friend of my country

Nope, they are not. The whole Bully crap is not funny at all, not the "Der Schuh des Manitu" or "Die Bademeister - Weiber, saufen, Leben retten" or the "Bully Parade". You can continue this with the not funny at all Anke Engelke, Markus Maria Profitlich, this Sarah Kuttner Bitch or the whole bunch of "RTL Samstag Nacht" or any of those comedy series.

The only funny germans are Harald Schmidt (but does more like cabarett plus Conan O'Brien ist funnier), Christoph Maria Herbst and Olli Dittrich ("Blind Date and" "Dittsche" rule!).

i enjoyed both his movies and really liked the bully parade
i enjoyed space ships surprise. i think that for a mere comedy/parody/spoof it was really well shot and the effects were topnotch. what annoyed me the most is that they did too many gay and c*** jokes. that's a bit overdone and becomes tedious after a while.
another german comic who's hilarious is michael mittermeier, i loved his ads spoofs

i think that the stereotypes of germans being not funny is oh so not true. they have some of the best comedy shows i know. and i watch also french and english tv so i should know.

but i have to say that i agree that conan o'brien is the funniest guy there is.

"Last night, Darth Vader came down from planet Vulcan and told me that if I didn't take Lorraine out that he'd melt my brain."
