Sometimes do you feel like you should give up on the cause? — Page 3

^^All everyone is asking man, is to release both versions...which IMO I think he will.

Dunno, I've just got a feeling that come 2007 and we have the 30th box set or whatever, that maybe, just maybe, he may give something back to all the fans that made him what he is today!

Then again, I've got a feeling that I'm gonna win the lottery and all my dreams will come true

"Is there anyway to correct the Leia/Mother speach in Jedi by adding new dialogue. I heard that at all the sites like theforce.net and starwars.com. Also when I did try to spread the word accross these "fans" they really didn't care about the O-OT and said "Watch the original movies on your old VHS copies instead of unesscarly getting it on DVD."

I nearly lost passion in the O-OT and the petition.

You would be having kittens(as should all of us if it wasnt so funny) at what I have just read on the T.F.n this guy wants basically the O.T CGI I am talking basically everything all the DS wall Panels CGI Ion Cannon CGI Luke and Yoda lightsabre training The CGI Falcon doing dog flips, CGI Yavin Hangar,CGI Endor Battle, etc etc I was trying not too laugh, (I would love to link it so you could see it..)

I/We may be concerned about changes but some peoples wants tantamount to Lucas shooting a new film(and I think someone will be dissapointed come the next version)

I often feel like giving up, because the young fans who believe in all the CGI changes often become very nasty on other message boards, and disrepectful of other people's opinions.

I believe that the fans who have grown up loving Star Wars without all these added scenes, changed diologue, etc, deserve to have the movie the way we love it on DVD. I just don't see what's so outrageous about that. He can remake the whole movie with CGI for all I care-as long as he gives us the original movie in it's original spirit on DVD.

The second type of fans are those who first experienced the saga after 1997. They either aren't familar with or do not cherish the originals the way the others do. These are the fans who say things like "Jar-Jar should be in A New Hope," or "Han Solo looks cooler dodging Greedo's shot!"

These are the fans that frustrate me. I feel like they do no understand what the O-OT means oto people or what it stands for.

Someone else mentioned the heard mentality. All the more reason to keep up the cause.

posted at starwars.com As a person who is 43 years old, I find it hiliarious how some of you think a person cannot look reasonably the same as they did at 45 as they did in their 20's. Look at Sean Penn, Doug Flutie, Madonna, Bon Jovi, etc. A lot of people who stay in good shape really don't change looks in that time, maybe a few wrinkles. My husband is 44 and looks exactly as he did 20 years ago except a few wrinkles, but you have to look real close. His hair is still the same, long, not thin, not grey, never dyed. Anakin as a Jedi in good shape could very likely have been like those stars I mentioned and not aged much had he not been burned. We don't see his face clearly enough to know if he has wrinkles or not, you can pretend he does and he is 'old' if it makes you happy !

But no, a fat 78 year old man is not a better representation of what his true self would have been. He was put there before the PT when we knew Vader turned young.

He does not fit anymore, now that we've 'met' and seen the real Anakin, it's actually a blooper, an anachronism, to have him there.

And also, Lucas has already explained that the reason for the change was that it was Anakin's inner self that he used to be that turned to the light, not the burned, scarred DV persona. And it's his story, so that's what is canon.

Also, who wants to go through the afterlife looking like Shaw when you could look like Hayden for eternity?

I will never give up. True fans, honostly true fans of Star Wars would want nothing but the original version. The orginal version has been around for 20 years. The so called "special edition" has only been around for 8. I think that the original version wins in this round.

For those who want to give up. Fine. Go join the dark side. See what we care. For the rest of us, we are going to contunue to fight the good fight. We will settle for nothing less than the best: The original original trilogy.

Why do you go there or TF.N when you have this place, when can see that rubbish, and all that ass-kissing. these are probably the same people that think Hayden is a great actor and cant take critism of his supposed acting skills, and say stuff like Ewan is better than Sir Alec and probably want Lucas to put Qui-Gonn and Padme in the ghost scene and whole trilogy in CG or something, the cause will be alive as long as this site is open and like minded people like us are not prepared to have our Star Wars force-fed to us, and if old George doesnt release the trilogy, least it will live on and so will Mr Shaw in Jedi thanks to the guys on here.

Do you really believe this, or are you just trying to fit in?

No offense, but who are you to presume what a 'true fan' of Star Wars is?

MY OPINION EXACTLY! To be completely honest, Shaw was horrible as Anakin, and Hayden brings more closure to the saga! It's much, more fitting to have Hayden, IMHO.

then why the fuck do you post here? http://www.gtaforums.com/html//emoticons/dozingoff.gif

EDIT, never mind. I'm going out now to the disco. couldn't really care to actually reply to him

Well if that is Lucas' reasoning, what is stoping him from putting some burn marks on a pasty white Anakin and make him talk with Luke Skywalker at the end, and just delete Shaw completely? If Lucas is gonna ruin something, he sure as hell better just destroy it 100% instead of half-assed like he has done so far.

I ask you the same. You come here to talk and discuss the SW films. As do I. I can come here if I want to. I'm not going to question why you're here. I don't really care why. But, kev, fuck, you don't have to give a negative response every single time a make a post! The fact is, I REALLY don't like Shaw in the OT. Maybe as the dying Anakin, but not as the redeemed Ankin.

Are you banned from T.F.n and the Official Site Adam? Do you like anything in the Classic Trilogy done before 1997??

Have a good time Kev, cant afford the Pub tonight, so I have to put up with AdamwanKenobi ;

It was such a bad performance it wasnt a fitting end, and was not as good as Shaw's nice smile, which is now replaced by his creepy glare, thank god I have found ways to not see every fan-girls dream lover at the end of the Jedi

Chill babe!!

I love Star Wars too, but really, who gives a shit! There's more important things in life to worry about. All so serious all of a sudden.

And Kev, shut up man! I'm only saying what I'm saying as joke. Watch your mouth little boy.

No, Mr. Bungle, I am not banned from TFN or the OS. I fit in very well there. (I sense more sarcasm.) And, as a matter of fact, I prefer the 2004 versions, and don't really care for the 97' versions. The 97' edition was crap, with a horrible Jabba, and incomplete effects. IMHO, Hayden did an excellent job as Anakin in ROTJ. I had always found Shaw to in fact be a little creepy and out of place. Here's the order in which I prefer the releases:

1. 2004 versions
2.originals
3.1997 versions

Because he simply unlocked my account. The catch was I was put under "double secret probation" with the message under my avatar changed to that for a while.

Any fan of the 2004 DVDs would have no favour for the 97 SEs. It's the same bastardisation, only less so. An O-OT fan would probably take 97 over 2004 because it's the lesser of two evils.

I don't know. I haven't watched my Special Editions since I got my DVDs. The DVDs are better because, despite what people say about the transfer, it's the cleanest thing I have, and it's the first edition I have that's in widescreen. That said, I still watch my Faces boxset more than any other version I have.

redbarron, I don't care for the 97' versions becuase they don't really add anything to the original films, IMHO. The Jabba in 97' looks horrible as well. Mainly, I like the 2004 versions becuase of the correct Palpatine in ESB, the new and improved Jabba, Hayden as Anakin in ROTJ, EXTREMELY good picture quality, etc. I just can't can't see how the 97' versions really improved upon the originals. That's the main differenc between me and many here. I have no OOT nastalgia that blinds me. I can see that the OT films are great, no matter what format, but do have the ability to be improved upon.

You *could* say that nostalgia blinds us. You could also say that an affinity for special effects blinds you. *OR* you could say what all of us O-OTers have been saying all along: updated effects are great, so long as they don't alter the plot points or characterisations. The only part of Star Wars I have nostalgia for is a storyline untampered with, without distractions or extraneous crap, where Han shoots first. I would swallow re-rotoscroped lightsabers and CG Bespins whole if the plot points were preserved.

I agree. Updated effects that don't change the story are fine. So what's your point? I can agree, however, with you on the "Greedo shoots first" deal, as that completely messes with Han's character.
