Someone is posting the first draft of the Jurassic Park script on Facebook! — Page 3

Only three today for some strange reason. Oh well!

A very thrilling encounter with the Rex with Muldoon and Gennaro (which reminds me a lot of Dodgson’s encounter with same in The Lost World), a very thrilling encounter with the Rex for Grant, Tim, and Lex, and they turn the power off!

The action with Muldoon and the Rex was very interesting and different. Would have been interesting to see that on the screen. Also it looks like they’re skipping the waterfall and golf cart section of Grant’s journey with the kids, Having them be seen on the cameras is also quite different.

Because we are down to the final 10 days, so in order to spread it out to the end of the month, it is now 3 pages per day.

I know this, because it is I who am putting this up. 😉

It’s a small internet.

I hope my rehosting the images is kosher, if not, let me know!

Of course! In my mind, no one can OWN this script. None of us wrote it. I am purely posting it for educational purposes… to see how Crichton transcribed at least one draft of his book into film. There are many other drafts of his that he did (this one is somewhere in the middle), and while some of the ideas were presented by others, this draft is still all-him.

It is worth noting that not only will I be uploading the original PDF as you are seeing, but also a re-type of the entire thing I have recently completed that is (hopefully) pretty close to what you are seeing (sometimes a challenge with some of the blurred text), apart from formatting.

You can find more discussion here:

There also may be some VERY cool stuff coming… and actually ways we can all get MORE cool stuff with the help of people like you. But I only want to tease it like that for now, because I don’t want to say I have something yet when I don’t. But it’s a strong possibility. Stay tuned.

Very cool! Thank you for the info. I’ve registered on the forums, so I’ll lurk about!

Awesome! Great guys running it. I have become a bit obsessive digging up the making of stuff for Jurassic Park, and even its ride attraction.

Here are some other articles I conducted that you may find interest in:

Oh yeah, I’m a massive Trespasser fan and love Jurassic Time, and I second that it’s worth listening to.

I’ve actually read the interview you did with Austin Grossman, but didn’t know it was you! Very cool!

Yep, all me! Jurassic Time, too. Labor of love, honestly. Just wanted to preserve Attenborough’s “lost performance” in a way that would be engaging on its own.

And thank you. 😄 It’s all worth it when others enjoy the countless hours heh. 😄 But I really just wanted to see it done, because no one else was doing it!

Agh holy crap! You do everything, haha.

You’ve done great work, man. Your work has really kept me going on Jurassic Park over the years, so thank you!

Thank you, again. 😃 Still amazing that there is still more to uncover. So much went into this franchise, especially the first film, it seems.

A final shameless self-promotion, only this time a bit unrelated: I am working on my own novel. Should be done by this summer. Anyone know any publishers? 😄

Wow, that looks more like a multi-media experience than just a novel, haha.

See— see— who could predict that Tyrphanax would just suddenly— suddenly— jump out out of a moving thread and say that?

It’s the Chaos Theory of love.

Or at least what happens when two nerds find a common nerdy ground.

And with that, I leave you all… failed at love… failed at life…

I met a traveler from an antique land,
Who said - " Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert… Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor, well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
‘My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!’
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

Power reset. We meet some raptors. Shit gets real.

I guess the dilos do have their frills, after all.

I misread that as “dildos” at first.

Now things are even more awkward.

Okay, I slipped. Been a busy, busy week for me what with the thesis and all. Sorry!

Six whole pages!

Lots happening. Implied dino sex, raptor baiting, and more! We miss out on a lot of the Muldoon/Gennaro Raptor-Blastin’ Tag-Team action, which is sad, but I’m glad that Crichton took out Muldoon’s drunken sexism for the draft, I always felt that it weakened the character.

Grant goes to turn on the power, the kids go to get some food, Ellie, Wu, and Muldoon play with the raptors, and Malcolm isn’t looking so hot. Plus that boat is still on the way to the land!

Man. That Hammond scene. Different from both the book and the film. I’m not sure exactly what to think of it!

Aside from that: Raptors in the kitchen, Grant in the power shed. A lot of this is taken from the book. Wu and the kitchen and Grant. The part with the mitt made me realize we didn’t get the Aviary. We also missed out on the temporary power restoration (which is one of my favourite parts of the book and really drives home Malcolm’s points). There’s another bit we missed that I’m not remembering, too.

Starting to come to the end here!
