He definitely played his part - Purple Lightsaber anyone?

Although, to be fair, that was only a suggestion by Sam. Lucas had the final say.

But either way, I never saw Sam Jackson as a Jedi. He never sold it to me. Instead, he was just the same Samuel L. Jackson as every other movie, but with a lightsabre.

Man, Sam L used to be so cool, But Jungle Fever was 15 years ago and Pulp Fiction was 12 years ago, and he's been coasting on reputation ever since. Sort of similar to the Star Wars franchise actually.

Coincidence?

True that, man. Although, I really loved him as Mr. Glass.

Well, he sold it to me, but I haven't really seen him in that much else.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one. I dug him in that role too. But the original point still remains.

And as Sybe said, I never bought Sam as a Jedi, and I never gave a f**k about the character of Mace Windu. I didn't care when he died.

By the way, here it is... Sam L Jackson's line from the movie... Warning: some language.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

I've read that one of the demands for global distribution for Snakes on a Plane is to translate the title literally. Over here it will be called "Cobras no Avião", which actually means "Snakes on THE Plane", but it's close enough.

Note how the tittle "Snakes on a Plane" appears next to the French one. Trying to capitalize with the Internet fame? A planted, builded Internet hype, perhaps?

While I have no plans to go see it (I have a horrible fear of Snakes, however fakey they may look) I can see why this movie is going to be popular. For one, it isn't taking itself seriously, and people seem to like that. It's just supposed to be a fun, summer movie. Not a dramatic, holiday season oscar winning movie. Secondly, it has mother******** snakes on a mother******** plane. (Just kidding.) I think all the hype was started because its such a rediculously bad idea, and people were intrigued, and so it became big online. It may have razzie written all over it, but I'll give it credit for being an original idea.

Doesn't it suck that hollywood's only original ideas....are bad ones?

BTW, how did they get the Snakes ON the plane? You'd think that they'd been stopped at customs.

Hollywood.

I don't think so. Two words: "Little Man".

The plane was built around the snakes.

I found THIS amusing:

New Line Cinema will launch Snakes on a Plane without press screenings prior to its first late-evening showings on Aug. 17, reports Variety. The film, starring Samuel L. Jackson, will open at 2,500-plus theaters.

New Line said Monday the decision was the result of the fan support for "Snakes," directed by David Ellis.

"Understanding that they would be the driving force behind the film, we decided early on they should be the first to see it," the studio said. "They will have the opportunity on Thursday evening, Aug. 17, at 10 p.m. shows across the country. We are not planning any advance media or promotional screenings prior to that."

Yeah... they're doing for the *fans*. They're NOT doing it because studios who know their film is crap don't do press screenings. No. Not them. For the fans. Yeah, the fans.

LOL.

I got my tickets and I will be there for the opening show tonight at 10 with my dad and my brother. I don't know if I should be happy or ashamed of myself.
