It would be a real challenge if you were able to somehow edit the season in a way where Omega rescues crosshair but then Omega gets captured before leaving. Crosshair finds his brothers and together rescue omega. I just don’t like how she escapes and then is captured again and then escapes again. Reminds me too much of the ahsoka pike fillers from season 7.

It could resolve the issue of Pabu getting attacked by the Empire and therefore being aware of the happily ever after location for the Batch. That whole thing could be cut.

Annoyingly there isn’t any way to change the basics of the plot, Omega is crucial in too many scenes away from Tantis. And to be honest my goal with these edits is to avoid sweeping story changes.

I’ve gone through the first 2 acts and managed to bring them in at 2 hours exactly. With some further scene trimming I should be able to shave a few more minutes off. I’ve cut out most of the Juggernaut episode by moving the focus to Rampart at the labour camp and simply have the Batch appear on the Juggernaut to rescue him. Very much like the Rebels breaking Jynn out of the Wobani camp in Rogue One. Intercut with Omega on Tantiss is works really well.

Now I need to condense Flash Strike, The Finale and half of Into the Breach down to an hour or less!

Both were 10/10! Cut right to the good stuff, and the edits are invisible. It has pretty much all the info you need to know for season 3 and yet is still paced very well. I had a great time. Thank you, and happy Star Wars Day!

I agree. It was set up for an amazing finale, but they just didn’t deliver.
We should have had a major clone rebellion, Rex and his crew should have been involved and at least one of the batch should have died. And Ventress should have tied into Omega’s future.

And I can’t believe alpha didn’t make an appearance!

While I don’t think there is anything your edit can do about this, I definitely got the feeling that the writers didn’t know this was going to be the final season until they were already well into producing the season.

I get the vibe that they had to pivot and the finale we got wasn’t the finale that was planned, but who knows.

Some of the outside scenes in the clone hideout episode match the hanger lighting when the Zillo breaks out. Trying to see if theres a way that Clone force 99 calls in reinforcements and they show up to help. It just kills me that when echo joined them for the mission they didn’t think to bring Rex or the other clones. It’s not like his whole reason for fighting is to save clone lives. If theres any way at all to insert some of those scenes into the finale it would be worth it.

Your Bad Batch fanedits are the best TV-to-movie Star Wars fanedits I’ve seen, and I’ve only ever seen the TV shows as movies, so that’s saying something. Your Episode II particularly was a stroke of genius in that I couldn’t imagine what you could have possibly cut as it all worked so well as a movie - and a good one at that.

I’m very excited for a season 3 movie.

It’s just not an option for me. It would take some serious special effects to pull that off. I’m just an amateur editor, I have to work with what Lucasfilm gives me 😞.

Thanks so much Martin. I’ll be back onto episode 3 at the end of the month. I’m just finishing off a Clone Wars project that I’ve been itching to complete for a while.

I’m pretty sure they always knew this would be the final season. But I agree it was very odd to leave so many threads hanging which could have easily been tied together.

Just watched these. Despite being a TCW fan, didn’t enjoy this series. However, what you have done is incredible! An extremely enjoyable & professional edit from beginning to end. Can’t wait for E3…

Hi all, just thought I’d offer an update on the Season 3 edit.

I have completed by third cut and got it down to 2h 50. Slightly over my 2h45 target, but there is a lot to fit in.

The rough outline is

Act 1: Escape from Tantiss & Reunion
Act 2: Reconciliation & Omega’s Capture
Act 3: Return to Tantiss

Basic Premise:

  • The plot focuses on events at Tantiss.
  • Omega and Crosshair’s escape form the first act with a lot of tightening of the plot including condensing the three Tantiss day cycles to two.
  • There is a single scene of Hunter and Wrecker finding the abandoned base, to have them appear in the first act.
  • When Omega and Crosshair crash on the planet Lau they immediately go to the port and steal the shuttle.
  • “The Return” and “Point of no Return” form the bulk of the second act.
  • The capture of the clone agent by Rex and his team is included between those 2 episodes. The knowledge that the clone agents are looking for Omega is the trigger for the Batch to leave Pabu.
  • The rest of Infiltration and Extraction are cut.
  • Bad Territory and Harbinger are completely cut.
  • The vast majority of Identity Crisis is cut. Only the important scenes involving Emery and Hemlock are retained and spread throughout the second act. Anything involving the children or the vault are removed. We don’t see the inside of the vault until Omega arrives.
  • The Juggernaught is largely cut. All we see is the first scene of Rampart and the Batch arrive to release him and leave the planet - it plays out similar to the Rebels breaking out Jan in Rogue One.
  • The third act is the final three episodes with a good degree of trimming.

If anyone wants to offer feedback I have an SD, centre channel-only version available to view. It’s entirely music free and is actually really cool to watch it.

My plan is to slowly go thought it over the next few weeks to add the other 5 channels and sort out music transitions, although Skeleton Crew will be taking priority.

That sounds awesome! I really appreciate all the hard work you put into these edits, I loved your take on Seasons 1 & 2, and I’m very excited to see your film trilogy of the show finalized!

Big fan of a lot of your stuff. Personally, I am not a big fan of just adding scenes so characters have screen time. It was my biggest problem with BB2 that those Phee and Batch scenes in the first half felt so disjointed/disconnected.
