Slimline Cover Art?

Anyone think of making cover art for slimline DVD cases? Like a lot of people here, I have a few different versions of the trilogy. I have 3 of them in my DVD rack right now (top row. . .TR47, dr. gonzo, and 2004 official) and LOVE to have people ask me "why do you have so many Star Wars?" The problem comes as all of these new versions come out. Split Screen (Wookie Groomer), Edit Droid, Classic edition, etc. They just take up so much room! Half the fun of it, though, is printing out a high res cover to display my copy! Other movies that I do this with I usually shrink (squish) the spine of the cover in photoshop and then put it in one of those slimline DVD cases. I just can't bare to do that with these star wars movies though! Some of you spent so much time on them and they look too good to SQUISH like that!

So back to my original question. Anyone think of making slimline covers? I also have DUAL slimline cases which are slightly larger then the REAL slimlines. Even though i'd only use them for a single disc, perhaps the extra space on the spine would make them more usable? Just thougts. I would love to see some new slim cases!

Might want to PM fusionaddict about this.

That dude makes the most amazing DVD art I have ever seen. He constantly outdoes himself. I'm still trying to decide which of his covers I want to use.

If anyone can do it, fusion can!!!

guess nobody's doing this? maybe i'll pm fusionaddict. . .

anyhow. . .i've got to assume that there's someone else in the same boat as me. i've just gotten hold of deleted magic, rarities 1,2, and 3, etc. It'd be great to have slimcase cover art for these, wookiegroomer's set, etc. If nothing else then just the supplimentals! )

Anyhow, just thought i'd throw this question back up there! I can't even find REGULAR case art for the rarities collections!

i had been looking for a program like this!! i downloaded and tried it. . .first impression: it does the same thing i've been doing in photoshop only a lot easier. thanks so much for pointing me in that direction!

i still think, though that we'd benefit from some slimline covers that were made that way from the start. shrinking a spine like that distorts the text. . .which isn't always bad. . .but the star wars cases would look so much nicer the other way!

What is the dimension of the spine from a slimline box? I made some covers of the definitive collection for my own ld to dvd transfer and I have the photoshop files so it's easy to adjust the spine (in the right way so aspect ratio remains the same).

I wanted my covers to resemble as much as possible the laserdisc covers of the definitive collection. So there no dvd logo etc on it. Nothing fancy, just black like the laserdisc covers. You can ofcourse add what you like, I also have them with poster art.

Arnie.d, because your cover's spine is just plain black no one really needs the original Photoshop file to produce proper slimline cases (though I'm sure people will be glad you did the work for them), the problem is when the backgrounds aren't flat colours.

Ooh, a laserdisc. The Cheat's playin' something on a laserdisc.
Everything is better on a laserdisc. Whatever happened to the laserdisc? Laserdisc!

I know but it is much easier.

I often have multiple versions of a cover in one psd. I really like the layers in photoshop. I have for instance multiple poster art, different backs, different spines, different logos in one psd. That way I can make a combination by selecting layers and print whatever I want.

Dear mingus2112,

I just recently converted most of my OT sets to slim line for the same reason. Sets Include; EditDroid, FarSight, TR47, IsoMix, DrGonzo, and MebeJedi Prototype. I plan on doing WookieGroomer set tonight some time.
I could upload the sets to a.b.starwars later for your chewing pleasure, that is if you like or anyone else.

Love, Segaflip

Ok finished the WookieGroomer set, just going to start uploading the set to a.b.starwars

Aren't those slimline cases just too flimsy?

I dont think they are flimsy at all, maybe you have used bad ones before. Just as good as the normal ones at have the size.
