Help: looking for... 'Skyfall' - 16:9 Aspect Ratio (IMAX Version)

If this is the wrong place for this… or if this topic has already been discussed, please forgive me.

My copy of the DVD/Blu-ray only has the 2:40:1 aspect ratio version.  I realize that is how most folks have experienced the movie in the theaters and at home…  My first experience with the movie was on opening weekend in IMAX and really loved the expanded imagery in the IMAX version.  I was a little sad that the Bluray/DVD release did not include the IMAX version alongside the 2:40:1 version.

I’ve searched high and low for anything pointing me in the right direction, but no such luck.  I remembered reading some time back that the the film is being shown in 16:9 on the Sky network in the UK.  Can anyone confirm or deny this?  That’s the only time I ever found anything indicating the 16:9 version being shown for the home market.

I think that the widescreen IMAX ratio is 1.89:1, not 16:9, it's just presented as 16:9 on HD presentations. As the movie wasn't shot on film, I don't know if that means that you could just horizontally crop the 16:9 image to the correct proportions or if the 2.39 version would have to be vertically cropped to approximate the IMAX version.

“That’s impossible, even for a computer!”

IMAX is open matted on all shots.

I always wondered why it was so flat and lifeless now i have my answer it was shot on video.

Still there were problems with the direction, execution and script which far more crippled the movie than it being shot on video.  But i do wish like every other EON Bond it was shot on film.

Flat and Lifeless aka artificial.  There was no film grain.

Did not mean colorless or that the actual shooting was suspect.

Nine out of ten people probably would not notice any difference however.  I am not claiming his work is unprofessional in any way.

One thing i really do appreciate about the Craig series is the limited cgi.

Shots may still be manipulated digitally but you don't have silly things like invisible cars.
