Sith at the Oscars.

What do you expect Sith to receive at the Oscars? I think it may grab a Best Picture nod. But that is still uncertain.
Rock. Nirvana. Awsomeness.

Best Supporting Actor = Ian McDiarmid or Ewan McGregor

The only categories it has a hope of winning are best special effects and best soundtrack. I'm I'm not saying that as an insult to the movie, that's just how the oscars are.

Yeah I know that will happen anyway.

Original Music and Visual Effects nominations. And it might win the music award. That's all. I enjoyed the movie but it doesn't really deserve anything else. Certainly not a directing or best picture nom or any real acting awards.

I think it'll get special effects and soundtrack awards, maybe costumes and make-up, mostly due to respect of all SW instead of only ROTS. Like when the last Lord of the Rings won for best picture.

It will probably get some technical awards, but that's all.

Well. There's an off chance Ian McDarmid will get a nom for best supporting actor, but I seriously doubt it.

I'd be extremely surprised if it gets any nominations at all, becuase its only recognition has been the Best Picture nom of the original Star Wars, right?

A movie like Sith doesn't stand a chance against the oscar bait that comes out later this year.

It only has a chance in the effects oscars.

I agree with skyman. I also don't think it deserves a best picture nod.

mark my words it wont even get nominated to best picture, nor best supporting actor.

i thin it will win best effects but thats about it.

dont expect it to get nominated for much, i knwo i have seen at least 5 movies already this year that out do it in almost all catagories

I don't even think it will get nominated for effects. The Academy just doesn't care to distinguish Star Wars. Star Wars now is on the same level as comedies where it concerns them.

Yeah, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is total oscar bait anyway.

And will probably take the VFX oscar.

lord of the rings won because it's director peter jackson never publicly ridiculed the academy or hollywood the way lucas has. Besides the point, marcia lucas said according to the book skywalking he would have won if he wanted to, but he thinks the academy awards are just b.s. not indicative of a person's talent. oh by the way, I saw the lion the witch and the warbrobe trailer before revenge of the sith and it was better than that whole movie, being from the same creative people behind lord of the rings trilogy films, except of course peter jackson, it was directed by the guy who did shreck 1 and 2 don't know his name.

I saw the Lion, the witch and the wardrobe trailer and, having read the book and watched the bbc drama, I found myself asking 'why have they turned this into a LOTR rip off?

This will answer your question:

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Surely a faithful adaptation would have made a similar amount of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$?

Although I have only seen the trailer, so I reserve judgement. But they are definitely selling it as a LOTR type movie.

Is the BBC drama the one where the witch's demons look all cartoony just like the fire in The Ten Commandments?

To be honest, I don't remember that. But I do remember Aslan being a wise and kindly lion who occasionally roared, rather than a CGI lion who roars constantly.

Kev, the dark tower rings a bell but I can't remember any details.

My 2 (or three) cents:

I also doubt that ROTS will get any Oscar nods at all. That's just the nature of the beast and frankly there was nothing more or less remarkable in ROTS than any of the prequels before it.

As for 'Narnia', I liked the BBC series a lot and am looking forward to the film. To some degree I think the filmmakers have no choice in how the movie is sold and I agree they are trying to cash in on the LOTR success. If it gets butts in theatres than I suppose this is ok. I will see it but I hope they focus more on the story than on the trappings and scenery.

Are they really using a CGI Aslan? Sigh. Completely unnecessary. I mean, if they could get Mr. Ed to talk 40 years ago, then surely...!

I've read all of the Chronicles of Narnia when I was a kid, and loved every one of them. Even though Aslan is going to be CG, as long as they treat the character with as much respect as Gollum was on LOTR, and keep the story true to form, it should be pretty good. I'll be keeping an open mind until I see it.
