Simple and cheap capture method for LD with bit perfect digital audio on PC

How does one do this and not break the bank? I've got a big number of LDs (good grief I have nearly 150 LDs!) I'd like to capture the audio from and re-sync to DVD etc., and both a small budget and a small decent desktop to work with.

For video how well does this work?: http://www.amazon.com/Diamond-TVW750USB-ATI-Theater-Tuner/dp/B002UOUQ08/ref=pd_cp_e_1

Primarily I'm interested in the audio side for right now, but have no idea how to proceed as far as either external unit or new soundcard. (It'd would be nice to have something for doing my own needledrops later on.)

Avoid USB capture card as long as possible, because they aren't usually very good and could lead to some errors/delays/frame drops etc. during capture; the same for USB audio card...

Take a look at my threads:

just to have an idea which ones are the best; of course, you could still obtain very good results using other cards, but if you are lucky, you could grab one of the high-end video capture card for less than 100US$, and audio card for about 50US$ - very well invested money IMHO!

After you have bought both card, start a thread about audio and video capture technique, I'll be happy to help you then.

^ XP-only though.

Bit-perfect is easy to do on XP if you're only capturing sources like LD that don't use copy protection, but I've never figured out a solution in Win7 as it seems the default mixer always gets in the way.

I have a Sound Blaster X-FI Titanium HD PCIe card with RCA input/output. The red RCA "in" jack, from what I understand, also functions as an SPDIF optical input. So could I hook the digital sound output from an LD player directly into that?

I have Win7, though.

AFAIK, yes! You need the proper adaptor, of course.
