Should anime be adapted into big budget films?

Author

With all the comic book and fantasy novel adaptations going around, I keep wondering if there'll be any big screen adaptations anime (and I think there's been at least one attempt, "City Hunter" I think starring Jackie Chan, and I hear there's work on an "Appleseed" movie). The question is - should Hollywood take a stab at live action anime adaptations and risk ruining them the way certain comic book movies were ruined (like "Daredevil" and the upcoming "Elektra")?
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.

Nope, keep them as anime. And any properties that currently exist as manga, should only be translated to film as anime.

However, I would love to see more manga adaptations of pop culture books and movies. I loved the manga translation of the Star Wars films. Getting anime expressions on Luke Skywalker was great.

For God's sake, NO, NO AND NO. There's this horrible ongoing project to adapt GAINAX's Neon Genesis Evangelion into a movie with american actors, well I call it a MOTHERF***ING BLASPHEMY!!! Most animes are FAR superior to hollywood movies, and schould not be maculated by those money-grabbing pricks from hollywood...

Dragonball Z, the movie? Couldn't care less. They can make a broadway musical out of it, if they wish to. Hmn... A musical featuring Son Goku and Freeza... Sounds good to me! (btw there's this weird free adaptation of a live action dragonball z made in hong kong some years ago).

There are a lot of animes who were rumored to become live action flicks, but never didn't: Wings of Honneimase (cant spell that), Akira, Saint Seyia, Sailor Moon... But the sad, sad news is, Neon Genesis Evangelion might actually get made... My poor otaku heart cries with sorrow... GAINAX is dead...

Wow.

A DBZ musical would be freakin' hilarious. But seriously...

The Matrix Revolutions proved that DBZ style fighting could be done in live action--It's not that I'm worried about as much as it is keeping the integrity of Toriyama's story without camping it up.

Therein lies the problem...

They'll have to cast compotent actors/actresses and translate the dialogue a heck-of-a-lot better than FUNimation did.

"Free Adaptation" ???

What do you mean by free? Inteligence free?
This film wasn't liscensed in any way by Akira Toriyama or Toei animation, which is why the character names are different.

They make animals talk, don't they? I don't think crazy hair would be that difficult.

One word: CGI. Ok, it's not a word, but still...

I wouldn't. I would consider the release of a live-action Yu-Gi-Oh movie to be the end of all rational civilization.

You know how Sports Illustrated does its "Signs of the Apocalypse" section? This would top it, IMHO.
