Should Lucas replace Guiness with an aged McGregor? — Page 2

This whole thread makes we want to vomit. It has to be the younger fans writing this, Rome fell too, I guess.
"Drink the Kool-Aid. Wear blinders. Cover your ears. Because that's the only way you can totally enjoy Revenge of the Sith -- the final and most futile attempt from skilled producer, clumsy director and tin-eared writer George Lucas to create a prequel trilogy to match the myth-making spirit of the original Star Wars saga he unleashed twenty-eight years ago. Fan boys, of course, have convinced themselves otherwise. So have several critics, if you go by early reviews."

That's cost ineffective. The sheer scope of the worlds on the PT blow those of the OT away, visually. To make models and sets that big or that vivid would cost more than they were worth.

However, I would be happier with sets that were on a lesser scale, if they looked realistic and not like CGI. I wouldn't mind that they weren't as big or vivid.

I'm one of those people who thinks that the less resources a good director has, the better the movie (to a point). With less gimmicks and effects to fall back on, the characters and plot become better to sustain interest. That's one of my favorite theories about filmmaking.

“Back when we made Star Wars, we just couldn’t make Palpatine as evil as we intended. Now, thanks to the miracles of technology, it is finally possible. Finally, I’ve created the movies that I originally imagined.” -George Lucas on the 2007 Extra Extra Special HD-DVD Edition

Yes, but the planets in the PT don't look CGI at all. Well, maybe alittle, but I think the planets (Naboo, Mustafar, Kyshhk) are breathtaking.

Well, a lot of the Naboo stuff was filmed on location in Italy, so that's why it was so breathtaking. Mustafar reeked of CGI, though. I don't really remember Kashyyk, as I blanked out during that pointless Wookie battle, but I remember that Geonosis was a disaster. Kamino was pretty cool, though, but there really wasn't much planet-wise to duplicate there. Water.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

i thought the planets were pretty cool in the PT, i love courcant that place was incredible, mustafar was cool, so was kamino, geonosis bugged me for somereason, maybe it was the orange filter cause i know i hate the orange filter whenever mars in is a movie. Naboo for some reason i really disliked, some parts were cool both others like the medo in AOTC i thought were bad for no particular reason either i just strait didnt like the tall grass with the brown armadilo/pigs just me though.

Come to think of it, I don't even really remember the Wookiie battle...

War does not make one great.

This is actually a moot point when you consider that greater care should have been given while making the PT to harmonize THEM with the trilogy that was FIRST. Yes, ANH does look dated, but it looked dated when compared to ESB and ROTJ. Nobody thought they should be reshot.

rocky looks dated compared to rocky 3-5, should we reshoot and digitize stalone for a rocky remake???
or better yet just re edit it and put a crowd in at the end...

This whole idea that a movie needs to be "shiny" to be good sickens me...

Yes, no movie is ever pefect, and no amount of Special Editions or Director's Cuts are ever going to make any movie that way. They should just realize when to stop and live with what their hard work has accomplished. Like Director Robert Zemeckis says, your movie is your movies, warts and all.
