Hmm... I had this problem as at first as well. Have you tried manually opening the files from the C drive?

Just for curiosity, what is (or should be, in that case) the content of the CD-Rom part?

There's CD-Rom content?

I gotta check it out. Didn't care for the book. Liked the cd though. Never played the game either.

Adam got banned? How? Don't everybody tell me at once.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

He and battlewars basically had a whole thread devoted to masturbation, and everyone got fed up and Jay kicked them out. I think the thread is still in the Off-Topic section.

That wasn't the only thing they did, it was just the last straw.

Is this just someone winging a score off a book or is this from the game....or was this used in the game. I loved the book and another SW OST would be nice, especially from another composer.

Hey look, a bear!

In fact, the "Shadows of the Empire" book is just a part of a big multi-media project from Lucasfilm, as well as the OST. All the merchandising has been made in the same way as a movie. And yes, some scores of the soundtrack have been used in the game.
So, for SotE, you have a book, comics, a videogame, a soundtrack, toys,...

IMO, this soundtrack is pretty good, even if I have to admit that I find it nearer of "Indiana Jones" scores than "Star Wars" but, that's just my opinion...

And grifter, if you can access the CD-Rom part one day, could it be possible that you share the content with us? If it's not too much in illegality, of course, I don't know if this CD is out-of-print or not...

here's the requirements for playing the cd rom part:
mpc II 486/33mhz or better, 5mb ram, windows 3.1 or later, vga 256 colors or better, 640x480 video, soundblaster 16 or similar, 2x speed cd rom drive

i have definitelly far better than this! (perhaps too much?) so i don't get why it can't work...
is there someone who knows what's wrong?

and Kaal, of course i will share it with you (si j'arrive a faire tourner ce putain de cd-rom! lol!)

If you can, insert your CD in a Mac. I know that the CD-Rom part is for PC, but Macs have the good point to recognize and mount all the sessions present on a CD, even if it's for Windows, Linux, Amiga,...
(ah, et bonne chance! j'éspère que tu parviendras à faire tourner ce "putain de cd-rom" de bordel de merde... c'est cool de pouvoir jurer comme ça sans avoir de problèmes...lol)

The problem you're having is that it's designed to work in a much older version of Windows. One would logically think that if you have a newer version of Windows, then it should have everything the older operating system had and more, right? Well, unfortunately no. Such is the infuriating proprietary nature of Microsoft.

This happened with my enhanced "Nixon" soundtrack CD years ago. It had a trailer for the movie, and all kinds of other info, including an interview with John Williams on the making of the score. As soon as I switched operating systems, I think when I switched over to WIndows 2000, the enhanced content just stopped working. I couldn't figure it out. I assumed all later versions of Microsoft would be compatible. I was pissed when someone finally told me what the problem was. Not sure if the content can ever be accessed again.

I've had the "Shadows of the Empire" CD ever since it was first released back in '96 or '97. I don't remember what was on the enhanced part of the disc, but I know it won't operate on my current system.

The Shadows of the Empire book was lacking in most respects. However, I would certainly recommend the music for any SW fan. It's by Joel McNeely, the guy who did the Young Indy Chronicles. Lots of choral and some interesting meshing of the popular SW themes, as well as plenty of original content on par with any of the official OST's. Remember, before the Prequels, this was the only non-OT Star Wars music we had! Beautifully written and performed with a full choir and orchestra, it gave us visions of what the prequels would sound like. In my opinion, it's even superior to some of the material written for the prequels. I consider it the "seventh" Star Wars soundtrack.

Hi folks,

well the solution is for a real hacker really easy.

Just use the freeware ISOBUSTER (yes ! you just must google it ;-) ) . You will fin in its window two sessions.

The Fist one ist the important one. Open it. Just make a right click on Shadows and it says "extract". Give it a target folder et voila. Enjoy with the .exe ;-)

It should work. Pls let me know. If not , i shall try a rapidshare.
