Due to the radioactivity of the reactor he turned into a Super-Admiral!

You got it all wrong, that was Admiral Guzzle(Ozzel)

Piett was the guy who FOUND the Hoth base.

He wasn't in ESB. I think he shared in Tarkin's overconfidence. The Novel of ANH refres to him as the Deathstar's commander.

He did appear in the SWHS, which is considered to be canon.
