The PT hasn't got anything on the OT.

I love the O-OT; hate the SE.

I don't belive that would ever happen. The original plot for episodes 7, 8 and 9 - which was the search for Solo and the defeat of the emperor - were condensed in episode 6, after ESB release.

Damn I should get back to work.

Actually, I would love to see a sequel with the original cast. At least they can act and it's not all about "fresh young flesh" (such as Hayden Christensen, who's all cute and charismatic, but can't act if his life depended on it *lol*).

But then again, that sequel should have been shot maybe in the late 80's/early 90's. Now it really seems kinda late for it. And I wouldn't want a sequel that dosen't involve the original characters.

What would also be cool is a movie in the style and era of "Knights of the Old Republic" -- that game has so much class, it truly radiates the spirit of original SW, much more than Episode 1-3 do. Would make a great trilogy, but it wouldn't be a sequel, obviously.

i still think that hayden can act and that he just needs a bit time. i mean he is trying to fill the shoes of none other than Darth Vader.

I thought he did act just fine. But as far as the Episode 7,8,9 idea, I don't think it is needed. The books from the expanded universe already did a fine job. Not to mention, the 6 we will have by May 19, 2005 have a good beginning to end, especially the end. To me, making movies after ROTJ is like the sequals they made to Cinderalla, it's not needed. Think about it. What is going to happen? Luke rebuilds the Jedi Order, Han and Leia have kids, a New Republic is set up with all the politics that go with it. I don't think that needed to be explored in the movies, especially now that we know a huge point of the saga is the rise, fall, and then redemption of Anakin Skywalker, bringing balance to the Force.

Well no, it could be made there is plenty of story he could make, but what would the point be? That I think is really the question.

Yes, do you want to know about Aragorn's son? Arwen's bad hairday? Sam getting fatter at the Shire? Coming to a theater near you......

oh dear lord.... that sounds even worse than the sequel trilogy..

what i meant by no more story is that Lucas has said that Star Wars is about the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker... and that has been done...
i still dont know if this was what it was really about back in 77 but it sure was the case around 2000...
hehe

Well, aren't they going to film a prequel, of some sort? The Hobbit? I've started to read The Hobbit, had to stop in the middle of the book, I couldn't take it anymore. Hey Tolkien, wherever you are, no offense right? I mean, you created one hell of a universe, and modern fantasy and RPG wouldn't exist if it wasn't for you, but... I rather watch rebels destroying the death star than watching a hobbit serving cake to dwarfs.

I have read it 5 times, as well as the LOTR 5 times, and yes the two differ from each other and in the case of the LOTR movie counterpart significantly, but still a good series. As for what the saga was about in '77, it was about telling the middle story of it all from what he said in the Faces interviews. Not to mention, if you think about, the two important people of the saga, if you count 7,8, and 9, would be Anakin with 1-6 and Luke with 4-9. That is how I always looked at without have read or seen Episode VII, VIII, or IX obviously.

the hobbit was made prior LOTR and it had no structure, he pretty much made it up as he went along, whereas with LOTR he had a goal.

To destory the Ring, but the whole story of getting there was not prearranged. I really suggest you check out the FOTR EE and some of the LOTR explanation books Christopher Tolkien wrote using his father's manuscripts. Basically Tolkien sits down at a type write and has at it. He revisies all the chapters heavily and also the following.
1. He stopped for at least a year in the Mines of Moria.
2. The story with Aragorn/Legolas/Gimli was finished promarily much sooner then the Frodo/Sam/Gollum journey.
3. It took years for Tolkien to finish LOTR.
Author
Time
i know, it took him around 8 or something like that.

what i meant by it is that whereas the hobbit was just written as he went along; LOTR has a "purpose" there was much impro. but not nearly as much as for the hobbit.

I see your point and I would add that when the Hobbit was being written, it was focused more on children whereas the LOTR was a more adult tale.

I remember reading The Hobbit when I was about ten. After I finished it I started reading LOTR but got bored after the first few chapters, so I guess what you say may be accurate.
