Say Goodbye to the Simpsons (UPDATE: false alarm) — Page 4

The Simpsons ended way back in 1998, so it's impossible for it to be having its 500th episode now.

I just saw the episode. All I have to say is... they got a lot of nerve putting that title card in!! I mean, that's just begging for comments. And besides, right now it's raining, so screw the fresh air and fuck this episode and the pathetic excuse for a cartoon that calls itself "The Simpsons".

This thread gave me so much hope for the future. Yet here we are years later, and this zombified piece of trash is still on the air and in its 25th season.

Shouldn't your wrath be directed at the people still watching it? Fox isn't keeping on the air out of warm fuzzy nostalgia.

Where were you in '77?

My question is: are people watching it out of nostalgia? If not... why? It's physically taxing to sit through a new episode, and I'm not exaggerating here.

I don't see the obsession with ending things myself.

Though I would like to see it evolve.

What if they shook it up by jumping five years so Bart actually got older and Maggie learned how to talk?

I agree, it is painful to sit through the new episodes, I've done that recently just out of curiosity. As a matter of fact, I can't go to the old site anymore cause FOX not only took down WTSO.net, but also sued the canadian owner of that site for every penny he had.

Also, look how much they don't care anyMOE:

 Who's to say it isn't?

I said the same thing about the characters not aging.

I stopped paying attention to The Simpsons years ago.  They don't exist in my world anymore.  I don't get why other people can't do the same.

Because it is a cash cow for Fox. As long as they continue to make money, it will stay on the air for decades to come.

Someone should start a petition to end the show for the legacy's sake.

I was one of those kids that grew up being forbidden to watch it, so it's never been nostalgic for me. I appreciate the early episodes I've seen, but I wouldn't call myself a fan.

Too late for that. Probably around 20 years too late.

How about two and a half men then? That shows has had 15 seasons more than it deserves. (I know it has only 11 so far)

It's like seeing a beloved pet get rabies and then, instead of being put to merciful sleep, put on life support but never cured of the disease, turning into a twisted, ravening monster that is only alive because the whim of twisted individuals deems it so.

I'm tired of seeing something I once loved twisted into a perverse mockery of what it once was, and I'd literally give an eye just to see it put out of its misery.

It's a tv show.  I stopped watching after Season 9 and stopped paying attention as well.  Why should it matter one bit if it makes it to Season 42?

I know you like hyperbole, but it's nothing like a pet.  And either you're misusing "literally" or you should seek some help.
