After this sentence:
The staff at the library did, however, inform me that there was a copy of Star Wars and one of each sequel in their copyright depository vaults, donated not long after their first release
I would add direct links to the Library of Congress records for the Star Wars films:
1977 - Star Wars : http://lccn.loc.gov/96512247
1980 - Empire Strikes Back : http://lccn.loc.gov/96512208
1983 - Return of the Jedi : http://lccn.loc.gov/96501520
1997 - Star Wars A New Hope Special Edition : http://lccn.loc.gov/97510343
1997 - Empire Strikes Back Special Edition : http://lccn.loc.gov/98502262
1997 - Return of the Jedi Special Edition : http://lccn.loc.gov/2006642053
1999 - The Phantom Menace : http://lccn.loc.gov/99468631
2002 - Attack of the Clones : http://lccn.loc.gov/2002636427
2005 - Revenge of the Sith : http://lccn.loc.gov/2005644161

This way people can see for themselves the dates of submission and other tidbits to verify what you are writing.
There's a pic of Star Destroyers, might want to caption what that image is. Especially if it's not from the LoC. Assuming it's to show a 35mm print.
Thanks for the mention.
In canofhumdinger's writings:
With Michael Kaminski' s permission
there's an extra space in there.
on this topic:
but I should mention that I'm no expert on the credits and didn't even know there were different versions of the original credits until very recently. [ed: as originaltrilogy.com members have uncovered recently, there are at least two different versions of the end credits on different prints, and possibly a third.]
if you would like to point them, link them to this thread:

To help out the LoC effort. Maybe a sentence at the end noting that for every frame there is in Star Wars there are miles of other films seeking preservation. Our society has been short changing much of our culture.
Great read, glad to see some people come forward with their experiences.
*EDIT*
Reading the .doc, what is the 'Mavis record'?
