Surprise! I'm alive and well. Just been having some time off (mostly) to focus on other things. Now that I've gotten stuff sorted out I'll be back as regularly scheduled. Sorry if I worried anyone. I'm currently slogging through two months of unreplied emails and such. If you tried to get ahold of me and I never got back to you, don't take it too personally.

You know, I'm kind of kicking myself right now. I just had an interview with The Hollywood Reporter and we talked about the SE/OT thing and I didn't really mention the site. Would have given it a lot of legitimacy if Hollywood Reporter mentioned it in next week's issue. I guess these are the things you learn the hard way.

Yeah, they were interviewing me because they were sent a review copy a while back and they needed an expert for a piece on the re-release. I would have asked to pass a message on to George but they had already spoken to him by the time they got to me. One day I will speak with that man! Or at least at him, as his personality goes.

Is there any way you can contact the interviewer and ask if they'd mention the site?

Can't wait to read the article!

Have you tried this:

publicity@lucasfilm.com

I saw Star Wars in 1977. Many, many, many times. For 3 years it was just Star Wars...period. I saw it in good theaters, cheap theaters and drive-ins with those clunky metal speakers you hang on your window. The screen and sound quality never subtracted from the excitement. I can watch the original cut right now, over 30 years later, on some beat up VHS tape and enjoy it. It's the story that makes this movie. Nothing? else.

Hehe I forgot about kenkraly. I feel kind of bad for giving him some shit. I think he's a sincere, nice guy but horribly misinformed.

Where's kenny at, anyway? I don't think he's blessed the forums with his presence since the Blu-rays came out.

He's moved on:

Hello Jason and Jimmy Mac,
I've been a huge fan of Star Wars since 1990 when I saw the 1st film Star Wars Episode 4 A New Hope on a VHS tape and I've loved all the films and The Clone Wars TV series ever since. I've been a loyal supporter of George Lucas since the very beginning. What makes me mad sometimes is you hear all of these so-called fans who claim to be Star Wars fans but say not-so-nice things about GL -- that he ruined the series with the Special Editions and the Prequel films, or he won't release the original versions of the films on Blu-Ray, and other not-so-nice things. Star Wars would not be the success it is today without GL, period, end of story.
Take Care Jason and Jimmy Mac, love the ForceCast and as always May The Force Be With You.
Sincerely,
Faithful ForceCast listener Kenny Kraly Jr. From Ohio

I don't have any McAfee Software installed, so what is this?

I'm guessing your internet service provider has McAfee. The "Web Gateway" product looks similar to the product I use at my work. It gets updates that have particular IPs blocked for various reasons, sometimes they're wrong. I usually either wait and see if it catches on that its OK or add an exception manually. You may have to call your ISP if it continues.

Site is up on my AT&T DSL.

^ There was an issue with the site (or SSW.com) last year when google thought it was, i'm not sure of the right word, ...contaminated, ie a host of malware.  The site most likely got on some list of negative websites and would guess without some work it is hard to get off.

But someone is filtering your surfing, i'd drop them.  If this is a country supplied block, then let us know cus that's shitty.

Okay, I got it. I had an addon installed (Proxy Tube, nice addon to watch blocked youtube videos). That addon added a proxy to firefox, and that proxy must have blocked the site. As soon as i deactivated the proxy the site worked again.

I haven't seen Ken around much.

Around the time of the blu-ray release he was on practically every page of the internet.

How come there haven't been any updates to savestarwars.com since the LOC scare five months ago?

A. the 'LOC scare' as you put it happened in 1995 or 1996 most likely.  (remember it was about returning the NFR print so it could be checked if it was a better source for the Special Editions, which Lucasfilm was having issues finding a good source.)  And it's a NFR thing.  (yes it's confusing that the NFR is part of the LOC, but placing the issue where it belongs is part of understanding the debate)

B. If you have an idea for an article, suggest it.  These articles require research that doesn't happen over night.  and it has taken people time to come forward with leads on several of the articles.  heck it took almost 15 years for the NFR thing to filter down to this forums members.
