Samuel L. moving onto serious art films

I'm glad he's decided to become more selective with his choices and is seeking out juicier roles that will challenge him as an actor.

This one looks good: Snakes on a Plane!

As does this one: Afrosamurai

This "Snakes on a Plane" sound like an idea for a bad comedy sketch! And is that the real title? "Snakes on a Plane"? And come on, that CAN'T be the real plot for that movie: "On board a flight over the Pacific Ocean, an assassin, bent on killing a passenger who's a witness in protective custody, let loose a crate full of deadly snakes". What the HELL?!

Also, "Afrosamurai". Oh, yes, Sam L Jackson is going real serious into his acting carreer... All I can expect now is for him to abandon acting and focus on being a pupeteer (little "being john malkovitch" joke here).
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

The Afrosamurai's name is.... #2?!

I'm not even gonna touch that one!

There is no lingerie in space…

C3PX said: Gaffer is like that hot girl in high school that you think you have a chance with even though she is way out of your league because she is sweet and not a stuck up bitch who pretends you don’t exist… then one day you spot her making out with some skinny twerp, only on second glance you realize it is the goth girl who always sits in the back of class; at that moment it dawns on you why she is never seen hanging off the arm of any of the jocks… and you realize, damn, she really is unobtainable after all. Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I would bet everything I have that at some point during "Snakes on a Plane" there will be a scene in which a snake will pop out of the airplane lavatory.

Idiot film producer #1 "OK, so there's a plane, and it's got snakes on it."

Idiot film producer #2 "What are we gonna call it?"

#1 "Well, I was thinking either Flight 121 or Snakes on a Plane."

#2 "Both great names man, you can't lose."

#1 "What's that other movie you mentioned?"

#2 "Oh, you mean the one about the Samurai who's seeking revenge on his parents' killers?"

#1 "Yeah, that's the one. Man that's such an original concept! And I've got a great name for that one."

#2 "Hit me."

#1 "Well, it's about a Samurai, so I was thinking...SAMURAI!"

#2 "but the main character is black. I really think we should play on that aspect...."

both together - "AFROSAMURAI"

When I read the thread title, I actually had visions of SLJ doing stuff like Red Violin again. Alas... no.

I saw a poster ages ago for a film called 'the man' starring Samuel L and the dad from American pie, but then I never heard anything about it again.

"The Man" tanked at the box office. Through the weekend prior to this past one, The Man had been in theaters for four weeks and only made 8.2 million. Sad. Here are each week's rankings for that film...

Week 1 - 6th place
Week 2 - 12th place
Week 3 - 21st place
Week 4 - 44th place

It never got any higher than 6th place. Hell, it only made $4M in it's opening weekend. Not good.

okay, as far as i can tell eugene levy's character wasn't a cop... but basically, in spirit, this was a "white cop/black cop" buddy action comedy? seems like the lethal weapon series said all that needs to be said about the genre, and there's nothing anybody can do at this point to make it fun again.

As far as I can tell it wasn't even relesed here. I saw a small poster once and that was it.
