In other words, perhaps none of the versions you can get now is the one used for Star Wars. To get an absolutely perfect exact match, you'll have to tweak both letter shapes and inter-letter spacing by hand. Since there are relatively few letters (ALUCSFIMTDProductionlgmeaxyfr,w.) to worry about, it shouldn't take that long.
Laserman has said he's planning on doing exactly that this weekend. Once he's done, I'd almost suggest he keep it to himself -- maybe produce an X0 Project newsletter on how it's done? This is one of those character-building (no pun intended!) exercises that everybody should have to do for him- or herself at least once. Makes you appreciate even more the effort people put into these fan preservation projects! And personally, I'd still rather do this than rotoscoping, which is another super-time-consuming b!tch of a chore.
