If possible I'd look at having the Tantive land on Dagobah and having the twins born there.
It erases a pointless special effects showcase at a location nobody cares about and explains Luke's 'familiar' line in ESB.

Ok, second stab at this
First part of this scene is not complete. Wanted to get some feedback before I go all out finishing this section. Second part has color correction and a Radio animation.
The transition to Anakin and Padme is harsh, i know. It will be fixed. Just not till after i get the hologram parts done.
I will be adding a layer of glass to the ship to try to match the original shot. Mostly want to get peoples feelings about the new animation. Too much? Not enough?

I was considering that in a place full with asteroids would make sense the base should be more like krypton aka mandalore aka a big dome to avoid any weird side effects? Also less fancy stuff and more OT like :)

The Dagobah deal would be amazing, but really hard to work out, unless Bob has access to Adobe After Effects CS5... =)

Im sure Bob will treat the color as much it will give an OT feeling with subtle tones of color here and there :D

If you notice that shot the battle droids are proven quite useless because they cant even try shooting anakin.. i added a missed shot just add some danger :)
I wouldnt mind see vader's construction be on a prototype work in progress Star destroyer or in a early Executor.. ignoring the fact that the death star could took 20 years of work..
we can cut to the rainy scene and go straight from the establishing shot to the labs in the ship..

It think dagobah might be alittle out of my league, lol. But so far alot of the stuff thats been done, I didnt think I would be able to pull off. So who knows 8)
The major issue with doing dagobah would be borrowing footage from a film I would maybe be doing an edit on in the future. I wouldnt want the same footage to appear in two different films.
The sheild door will most likely change before final release. To match the OT look. Along with a ton of other stuff still to be determined.
The construction of the Death Star also will be out, Just havnt nailed down what I would replace it with. Perhaps a hologram of the Death Star plans inside the bridge.
Or maybe the construction of Vaders Executor. Would be the Emperors gift to Vader. Kind of a "Sorry you got burned up and cut in half following my orders". LoL
It's all still up in the air atm tho.

bobgarcia, your work on this edit is simply spectacular! I especially love how you seemlessly removed that ridiculous and unnecessary flip by Dooku. Can't wait to see more of your edit.
If you are looking for more Christopher Lee dialogue, have you tried the Clone Wars animated movie? Lee did Dooku's voice in that one, so you might be able to find some lines in there. Keep up the good work!
Bingowings, I never tire of seeing the ending of ROTS moved from Polis Massa to Dagobah. The idea in that video is rough, but the idea is just perfect.
Love everything you're doing here! And it's encouraging that this is your first foray into after effects as it gives hope that I'll be able to do similar things with my AOTC edit :D
Did you learn everything about after effects from videocopilot?
How difficult was the waveform animation to do?
I really like the idea of the Executor being presented to Vader - being given command of the flagship of the entire imperial armada. This sense of attained power is unfortunately dissipated come ANH though, because we see he's become Grand Moff Tarkin's bitch :p
The Executor? Its not that remarkable to be shown in that "final" shot... Its just a ship, a big one, but a ship.
Besides, it doesnt make sense for it not to appear on A New Hope. If you add the Executor there, you will have to change the first shot of ANH and change the star destroyer for the Executor.
I have to concur The Executor should be a big surprise left for ESB (the PT takes away too many of those already)...It was a wow moment to see those enormous ships from ANH dwarfed by the HUUUUUGE ship in the next one.
It continues with the idea of escalation.
Really the Death Star in ROTJ is a bit of a let down, to make the point that nothing can stop the Emperor he should have replaced it either with something obviously even bigger and more powerful or with more of the bloody things (two at least).
It turns fighting the Empire into fighting a Galactic Hydra (blow up one huge superweapon and two grow in their place).

Fair enough. A prototype "beast" aka Imperial SD in the works then. To show how venators are small compare with it.

Here was another idea I had for keeping the Death Star in but putting it closer to the Episode IV time-line.
Have a time leap transition showing that the Empire has grown over a period of 15-16 years into the one we see later (leaving plenty of time to finish building it by the time ANH starts).

After a few people stating that they thought the shot was to plain (and I agree). I added in the Destroyer that Obi took off from originaly.
It would make sence that he tries to head back there considering he's in a remote system with a short ranged ship maybe thinking only his clones rebelled.
He would try to use the radio to dock, but like he says, hes lost all frequencies. Bail cuts in and tell him this madness is happening all over. So we're left to assume that Obi bolts out of there asap. How's that sound?

In my opinion, it only makes the shot look a lot more still. Earlier I hadn't noticed that as the ship moves, the stars don't go out of view. Now, since the Destroyer doesn't get larger as we get closer, I noticed the stars, too, and thus the entire shot looks still.
They still move, I slowed them down alot tho cause they seemed alittle fast. For the final render I'll speed it up along with the Destroyer. Thanks rpvee
