How about using the new scene of Luke in the cave tweaking his saber? If you can digitally make it Anakin's face under the cowl, then the turning on of a red saber would be quite the visual.

As to when it could happen... How about in between the time that Anakin kills all the Trade Federation folks on Mustafar, but before Padme arrives?

Then again I might just be senselessly complicating matters.

one thing that always bugged me about the end of RotS is the fact that vader crosses his arms (very un OT Vader like) I keep imagining that he is about to accidentally switch off his respirator unit thingy™. can this new 3D Vader be stood in such a way (hands on hips perhaps) so as to change this?

On the whole lightsaber issue/problem. Had a sort of wild idea; could Anakin give Obi-Wan his lightsaber the last time they see each other before Obi-Wan leaves for Utapao. Instead of Anakin saying "Your going to need me" - Could it be changed to "you might need this", and then move into a close up of two hands with the lightsaber changing hands?

Just a thought... It could also mean that he already has a red blade when he cuts Windu's arm off. Would possibly change the perspective of Anakin turning up at Palpatine's office that he had already decided to side with Palpatine and made himself a new saber.

It's a good idea.

Instead of Palpatine's lightsaber falling out the window, it could fall on the floor. Anakin would then pick it up and use it to slice Mace. This would then be the saber that he uses in the duel.

As for why Obi-Wan needs Anakin's saber, he is going against Grievous who is known to fight with multiple sabers. In addition, Obi-Wan does eventually lose his lightsaber. Maybe you could cut the scene where he gets it back, so that he does in fact need Anakin's lightsaber to escape order 66. Maybe he even uses Anakin's saber in the duel? However, you have the question of why doesn't Obi-Wan use Anakin's saber versus Grievous, unless you cut it so he loses it before then or have some other death for Grievous.

That still really doesn't make sense. Why are two sabers better then one?

Because your going up against a dude wielding 4 lightsabers... I don't see how you can't think two might be more helpful when your effectively being attacked four times at once.

Besides this, given the number of times that the Jedi (and Sith) manage to loose their lightsabers during the films (Obi-Wan in TPM, Anakin in AotC, then Obi-Wan, Yoda, Sidious and Anakin in RotS, not to mention Luke in ESB) having a back up weapon actually makes a lot of sense rather than just having one weapon...

Despite all that, it was merely a suggestion for how Anakin could change sabers and Obi-Wan end up with Anakin's saber... It's somewhat limited given the footage available, but if you have a better suggestion feel free to make it.

Obi does not need to be cheapened by feeling he needs extra lightsabers to defeat an edited asthma droid. That would also open up the chosen one having no faith in his master.

OK... what if somehow it were edited that he had his "ANH" saber the whole time? Maybe reveal it by igniting it right before his last leap with 2 sabers, and Obi picks it up on the rocks?

Not bad. That allows for his saber to be red during the duel, but lets Obi Wan still retrieve the blue ANH one.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

He managed to take off Dooku's head with two sabers, and Anakin's no match for him, he's a sith lord.

Actually, the final leap at Obi-Wan with two blades lit is the first idea here that I've considered at least equal to Palps giving his apprentice a new blade out of the drawer(which I've never had any problem with at all). Every other idea seemed to me like grasping at straws to change something for the sake of change. I would like to see this edit finished someday.

BTW what's wrong with Vader folding his arms?
