Yes it would be wise to update on both sites.
So, what's up? How is everything?
We are not dead

Are we still getting updates here? I don't want them to have jumped solely to fanedit.org :-(
We dont have updates but keep posting radical visual ideas and plot fixes.

What do you think of this?:
That's the idea from another fan edit being done here on OT.com. :)
Specifically:
Wasn't there talk of merging KCutter's work with BobGarcia's? If that were to happen, I think we'd have a perfect ROTS cut.
Maybe someone else will do that once both edits are done.
Also, this has probably already been brought up here but: why would you give Anakin a red saber?
I loved the blue saber in the final duel. Putting the red saber in just makes the battle black-and-white, good-and-evil, when really, that's not what the fight is about. It's about two old friends facing off against each other.
If only that came across on screen.....he was portrayed as evil from the start.......

Well it IS a fan edit....so isn't the point of all this to make Anakin sympathetic? And that still doesn't answer my question: why give him a red saber?!

This is isnt final my friend. It looked cool at the start of the project but still not sure if its at the end. The coloring at the end of mustafar begs for a little blue so thats why they kept the blue colors originally.

Well IMO I strongly am against it. It's a cool little idea on paper, but in execution, it just ruins the whole "brother against brother" theme.
The brother vs brother never worked for me.We never get any glimpse that these two are brothers or even friends..but..
...Better show two best friends that now are in different sides with any means nessesary.

To me at least, the red lightsaber emphasizes that Anakin is set on his path to darkness and, in Obi-Wan's opinion, cannot be removed from it. He can only be incapacitated/killed, which Obi-Wan fails at. I suppose it does go against the "brother vs brother" theme, but it actually could end up making Obi-Wan look sympathetic since he's attacking someone genuinely twisted and evil. It also happens to appeal to classic imagery (blue vs red) from the OT.
I always assumed this would be in the final edit. Is that no longer true?

Well, then why don't you just wait for this edit to come out and then recolor the sabers your way?
I honestly fail to see the problem here.

I think you guys are missing the point of what a FAN EDIT can be. Why not make it so they have a better relationship by adding/cutting/restructuring scenes? That's entirely possible, I've seen it in other edits. Giving him a red lightsaber at that point in the saga just says "Another sith." instead of "A fallen Jedi."

Because I'm not a technical wizard who knows anything about how to do that.
But here's an idea: why not have a PURIST edition (such as the one Adywan had for ANH:R) where you leave all lightsaber colors the way they are? Windu's, Grievious' and Anakin's lightsaber all remain their respective colors. I think that would be a great compromise.

We are not missing anything captain.
The red saber was bob's idea when the first workprint was released. He changed his mind when he saw that new visuals can redeem ROTS so he start over with new ideas and fresh perspectives.
I havent seen other edits that justify the brother vs brother entirely but still they did create some room for improvements.(except the theKcutter's maybe he is awesome)
Also i said it again. This edit does not comply with the typical canon of star wars. Its bob's universe and he can create his own continuity along the movies/sagas. He can have luke with red saber if he wants at the end ;)
Also i was never into what a lightsaber color means in fanedits. I tend the use of blue=good vs red=evil and thats it. Bob respects that.
The matter of a purist version of the film is being considered but in an entire other level that i can reveal... ;)

Alright. That's a good answer. You made your points well. Sorry if I came across as aggressive.
No worries my friend. Keep posting ideas and contributing :)
