I'm sitting here at my computer at work, listening to 2 10-year-olds arguing about cheat codes for GTA 3: San Andreas.

Does that sicken anyone else??

Believe it or not, this has gone on for years. I played Moral Kombat all the time when I was nine, and you don't see me upercutting peoples heads off.

Granted, there is a lot more stuff in GTASA than violence, but the point I'm making is not that they should or shouldn't be playing it. That's a given. My point is: don't be shocked. It's nothing new. Just pray for them or something.

I was sickened by it when Mortal Kombat came out...let's see that would have been shortly after we moved. I was maybe 11 or 12 at the time.

I heard one of them say something about renting it, so its not as bad as it sounds...but still.

Next thing I know I'll be helping kids find cheats and codes for Leisure Suit Larry games.

I never owned the game, so I wouldn't know.

I think it is horrible the amount of exposure the youth 12 & under are getting to cusses & sexual inuendo. I don't expect to meet little children & hear them talk about anal rape & such.
I just hate stupid people.

Agreed. It's scary how young kids are being exposed to stuff these days--like seven year olds listening to gangsta rap and stuff. Videogames are just one part of it.


And also, there was no nude code in Tomb Raider. It was just a rumor.

OIC. Yeah, pop culture w/ rap & stuff is REALLY not helping the youth. I was never affected because I grew up on country music.

here is my take on all of it. when kids are little htey will listen to all of this stuff they will try to do what is cool, and the more parents try to get involvs the more the kids will move away. why because they want to be cool and have lots of friends. the way i see it is that if a kid is playin these sorts of things and listening to the stuff all a parent has to do it make sure they dont do it themselves just guild them properly. that is not to say the parents should be letting there kids listen to all of this stuff. the way i see it is i remeber when i was growing up playin mortal combat and watching the movies when they came out. i remeber me and all my friends would try to get the best fatalities. another fun game we used to play was literally called guns, we get nerf guns and run around the naboirhood playing. but hey when we got older we matured and learned that it is not acceptable to go and punch a guy so hard there head falls off. all of my friends that used to play these games are not at univiserty getting degrees. what i am trying to say is that exposing this stuff to children is not that big a deal if and only if a parent knows how to guild that kid to the point where he matures and learns what is right and what is wrong.

i know that was a rant but take whatever you want from it.

Yeah. As long as there are some good parents involved, the media can be quelled. But sad thing is, most parents don't care, like it themselves, or don't know how to GUIDE (not guild) them in life.

Well, in the past the media was not around and this problem did not exist. I've taken looks at graphs noting the 1900s in the US, examening the rise of the media influence (also the # of televisions owned/amount of hours watched) and the studies show that more violence & drug use has come from the rise of media/television influence in our lives.

trust me trooper it was around, it was just ignored. in the 1800 hundreds people all over he place smoked weed and tabacco you had children doing it as they please but in resent times as the laws about smoking and weed have arrisen only has it become a problem. they didnt call the slums in cities the slums for no reason.

Man, they didn't know it was bad for them. They can't be blamed, it felt good, so why not do it? We now know it is bad, so we try to do something about it.

Well, it is extreme, but it was a way of life back then. If a certain group of people didn't have it, they would not be able to live nemore.
