Info Wanted: Starship Troopers Anime

A friend of mine came across a 1980s(?) anime based on Robert E Heinlein’s famous Starship Troopers. The name of it is supposedly “Uchu no Senshi”, though I think that may be more phonetic than proper japanese.

Does anyone know anything about this? Has it ever been translated or subtitled? If not, we’re curious of finding other better copies, as well as the history behind it.

Someone on "Roughneck Ramblins" - http://s7.invisionfree.com/Roughneck_Ramblings/index.php?s=e9510fd52d4f898b6c202acdcc3dc85d&showforum=3 - saw that and claimed that it was horrible, which is exactly what I was expecting...

So far the best adaptation (and a wonderful expansion) of Heinlein was "Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy".

It aired on FOX (or was it WB?) in 1999-2000 as Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles (and in english!) I TiVo'd all off them when they aired and transfered them to SVCD (I had a Amoisonic SVCD/VCD recorder) but I gave away all my VCD/SVCD a few years back, I THINK my brother has the official U.S. DVD set. You can get them on Amazon.com

I believe you're thinking of the US CG series.

Correct, guiltyspark. These were made in the mid 1980s, long before the Paul Verhovan film and its spinoffs
