In the event that MYSPLEEN does stop hosting torrents - I may move to NEWSGROUPS and other Torrent Sites it may be a few days or longer before I post the next round of movies

I can still offer duplications for those without broadband so you can still hit me up for the discs

Hello all,

I realise it has been awhile but I have been busy raising my new daughter (5 months old actually) and haven't been round for a bit. It is nice to see folks still taking care of each other here and that there is still a place to come home to....LOL....As I was reading this thread to catch up a bit it really hit home on this torrent thing since I belong to at least 3 sites myself. I do know of an IRC server that might be willing to help Rikter maybe setup a room for Star Wars geeks like all of us here.......just a thought if myspleen goes the way of the dinosaur.

I look forward to chatting again with all of you soon.......

I was casting about myspleen, and couldn't find The Phantom Edit (not the re-edit). I'm curious to compare them as well as check out The Phantom Editor Strikes Again. Are there any sites up with the relevant torrent?

Hey Rik,

Any news on bh004 or bhoo5 being posted? Just curious because you had mentioned it in a few threads from before.

Thanks.

I should explain. I requested that Rikter hold off on releasing bh004 and bh005 as i am redoing them to include menus and other features. You'll probably see bh007 before 4 and 5.

Hey there guys!!!

I'm interested in this torrent stuff, but am a total newbie.

I've tried to read some stuff on the net about torrents and such, but it seems pretty vague.
All I've gathered is that I need a client program to make it work...and there's a quite a selection to choose from...

Can someone give me the rundown on how I can get into this torrent stuff....?

PM me or post here....

Torrent is a file sharing protocol, by means of which people download and upload files without having a huge bandwidth a server would require. It is a very usefull protocol for sharing large files that many people want.
Yes, indeed you need a torrent client to download torrents. Here's some of them:
BitTornado
Azureus
BitSpirit
BitTorrent (client)
ABC
I personally prefer BitSpirit amongst the above, and I would most definatelly recomend it.

After you've downloaded and installed a bitTorent client, all you have to do is find the tracker (web site) that offers the stuff you are intersted in (for SW stuff, www.myspleen.net is an excelent tracker), and sign in that tracker. The reason you are requested to sign in, is bacause each tracker keeps track of your upload/download activity, and gives special privileges to uploaders, as to avoid leeching, which is the main problem on peer to peer file sharing.

If you have found the tracker and the torrent you are intrested in, then you are prompted to download a small .torrent file. This file contains all the information needed for downloading the torrent. If you run this file, your installed BitTorrent client will start, and so will your download.
Hope this was helpfull, happy downloading
And now, for your feature presentation:

In this version the word "WOOKIE" has been changed to "HAIR CHALLENGED ANIMAL" and the entire cast has been digitally replaced by Ewoks.

Metallaxis,

This is exactly the info I needed. I figured it was a P2P sort of thing, but I was confused on the torrents file part.

Thank you for the explanation!!! Now, I can go and enjoy all these awesome edits and such that I keep reading about!!!!

Thanks a million times over!!!

i was hoping for the superman ones first, but i wanted the oz too. so it all works.

as long as we get the superman at some point. speaking of which, i actually found a vhs at my parents that has superman 1 & 2 on it, its on one tape so dont know how good the quality is and not sure what version it is, probably not the one you have, prob just the one without the changes the official dvds had. figure ill take a look at it either way maybe do a transfer to dvd.

Wow. All I can say is Thank You to all the great stuff you guys put out here. I've been floating around here awhile without posting, but I couldn't hold off any longer. I feel like I've found my people! I recently download a number of movies from myspleen for a birthday gift/project for my nephew, so I haven't seeded nearly as much as I've leeched, but I plan on keeping all items seeding for as long as anyone needs. My cable connection is unused most of the day while I'm working, so might as well give some back!

I also purchased a 2 DVD/1VCD set from EBay entitled "The Archive Collection" about 2 years ago. it contains:

DISC ONE

1. The Making of Star Wars (1977)Presented by C3PO and R2D2
2. The Making of the Empire Strines Back Presented by Mark Hamill 1978
3. The Making of Return of the Jedi (1983) with Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher
4. 15 Original Trailers from the # Vintage Films
5. The ABC’s of Jedi Effects with Dennis Muren of ILM
6. The Star Wars Trilogy - War Stories- Interview withGeorge Luucas
7. The Star Wars Picture Gallery with Ralph McQuarrie, Chief Artist
8. Archive Adventure - A guided Tour through the props at Lucasfilm
9. How Walkers Walk - Original Stop Motion footage from ESB
10. Jabba’s Palace Let’s Dance! - Extended Version of Max Rebo LIVE!
11. Flight Through the Asteroids - Storyboards, Miniatures, Animations, and More

DISC TWO

The Forgotten Scenes-

An extended presentation of over 40 deleted scenes from Original Trilogy. Most of
these have not been seen before. Proffesionally made, this DVD is a must have for
any Star Wars fan.

DISC THREE

This VCD includes an alternate ending for Return of the Jedi in workprint form,
four deleted scenes from A New Hope, and many, many auditions from the 1975
casting auditions for the main roles. Includes footage of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher
and Harrison Ford.

It seems to be just a repacking of precviously available extras. i just wanted to make sure I wasn't holding on to something that might be interseting to somebody. Just let me know!

Thanks again, and I promise I'll be a good little seeder!!

That first disc has a few items on it that I've never seen mentioned around here. Perhaps somebody else can verify if there are any rare pieces in that list?

First, WELCOME to the forums!!!!!!!

Second, The set you refer to is an older set with VERY VERY low quality.

DISC ONE: [DVD] This disc has all the Dr. Gonzo Extras and some VHS to VCD rips of the FOUR original making of's - it seems the disc was reauthored and MAYBE shrunk to get almost 4-5 hors of stuff on the disc (I threw this one away as the quality was so low)

DISC TWO: [PAL format DVD] The Forgotten Scenes is a cool disc and NOT very professionally made as they put Jedi before Empire in the menu!! (I tried to do a NTSC conversion but the results were poop - BUT I did reauthor the disc with the correct layout )

DISC THREE: [VCD] "This VCD includes an alternate ending for Return of the Jedi in workprint form" - this is really ONLY the SPECIAL EDITION animatics from the Making of the SE special - the rest of the disc is an jumble of clips from the Casting Auditions and some rehashed deleted scenes from the above DVD (I still have a copy of this one somewhere )

Again, WELCOME and thanks for posting thei info - NOT many people know about this unless they browse eBay. Also hit me up for my list if your interested - I have all the Making of's from the US laserdiscs and VHS tapes

Thanks for the welcome! You are correct about the quality of the set. I purchased this early on in my "first steps into a larger world", and got what I paid for. The covers looked like something a parent of a 3 yr old has hanging on their fridge. I already grabbed a number of the extra DVD's you had posted at MySpleen, and I have currently been torturing my wife by making new covers and laying them all over the living room floor to dry. As soon as I can, I'll double check to make sure there isn't anything different on my cheap set, but I doubt it. As much as I've been enjoying this site, myspleen, and all the discs I've acquired, I definitely will be donating to the respective causes to help keep things going.

If anybody else has this turd and wanted a cover for it, I made one that looks decent, I'm just not sure how to post any of my stuff here. Send me a message if anybody wants it.

Thanks again folks, and I'm sure I'll be talking to you all again, I plan on hanging around for awhile!
(....unless my wife says something different.....)

****EDIT*****
It truly is amazing what spending 10 secs on Google can do for your knowledge base. Here is a small version of the cover for the 3 disc extras set. It's like putting a bow on a pig, but I have photoshop, spare time, and extra ink and paper. what can you do.....

I wanted to thank Metallaxis for providing the Moth3r DVD on myspleen. Ignore the idiots on there that have been making those stupid comments. I do not want them to discourage you from making these available.

I am almost done downloading it and will seed it long after. You and Rik need to keep posting these great torrents. Thanks to both of you.

Hi guys (first time poster here)

I've been looking and looking for the star wars edits, as a big fan of the original films, i couldnt help but be dissapointed with the router Mr Lucas took with the new trilogy, so i am hoping by finding the edits, it may install some new faith in the onceg enius of George Lucas.

So i managed to find and get signed up for the site which holds EPII, i cant find EPI on there, but not to worry too much. (any help would be appreciated *wink* *wink!*

What i was wondering is if someone could explain what the other starwars stuff was on there i found these:

The ISOMIX Trilogy - The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars - Original Trilogy - 1983 - The TR47 Ver...

there are more of these types, but i was hoping one of you kind people out there could explain to me what these versions are, and the kind of differences i would find (if any)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks and Regards
