I don't see any relevance of rumours among kids. If it is not in the film it means nothing.

Certainly there is no evidence that might suggest Stormtroopers were clones. Actually there is strong evidence that they are not.

The "aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper" line always made me wonder if there was some kind of expectation of uniformity.  I too remember there being talk in the 80's that at least some of the stormtroopers were copies of copies of copies of clones... which is why they couldn't hit anything when they were shooting.  I think that originated with talk from he who shall not be named in that time period.

It would be cool to see a villain who was neither Sith nor Jedi, but who used the Force in its entirety. No focus on anger or fear, nor a demand that these emotions be removed. More a Sequel Trilogy idea, where Luke would have to face an opponent who defied simple classification.

Jolee Bindo? It's a video game, I know, but KOTOR was pretty amazing.

I dunno. I like the Inquisitor. He looks cool to me. I was a bit annoyed about the double bladed saber when I saw it, but meh. I like that his facial markings are the same as the Son's from the crazy Forcegods episode of The Clone Wars.

This is Dave Filoni we're talking about here. The man brought Darth Maul back and made it a damn fine story. The guy made stomachable Jar-Jar episodes. He made the Mandalorians into pacifists and it turned out awesome.

As far as I'm concerned, Filoni is Lucas 2.0. He was the keeper of the flame during The Clone Wars, and I have nothing but 100% faith and respect in the man to make Star Wars right.

Maybe he should shepherd episodes 10, 11 and 12.

Just thought I'd put this out there. I was looking forward to this show, until the Inquisitor was revealed.

I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.

Let's reserve a little judgement until we see some actual footage of sufficient length, shall we? ;)

Gotta remember, guys: we're not the target audience here.  Ignoring the fact that this series draws heavily from the prequels, Star Wars as a whole is, and always has been, primarily for kids.  Some pieces of the puzzle just pander to that demographic more than others.

I can tell you I'd have thought this was cool when I was eight.

Doubt this show already? Tsk tsk.

I was searching for some old Joe Johnston concepts yesterday when I was futzing around and stumbled across these. Take a look at some of this amazing concept art from Rebels shown at NYCC and their inspirations:

First, something familiar... (sorry if I break your PC) (right-click and "View Images" for larger versions, or check out the sources at the bottom of the post!)

It's spot-on.

I cannot wait to see this on my TV screen.

I can imagine these being little Imperial scout ships or something with a small compliment of TIEs for defense... or a way to ferry small TIE squadrons to battle (since TIEs don't have hyperdrives themselves). It's based on the ship in the last link. I loved the design of this ship and I was sorry we never got to see more of it.

I love that they're looking at the Incredible Cross Sections books. I pored over these every chance I had as a kid. I knew the anatomy of these ships inside and out.

http://techexile.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/SAM_0313.jpg

I love this attention to detail...

http://techexile.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/SAM_0319.jpg

They nailed the design.

It's a bit stubbier than the normal TIEs... what does that remind me of...

This is a good one. Based off the old Kenner toy that made a few comic appearances.

Joe Johnston concept for ROTJ. Replicated it almost exactly.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ta_hZkNB0AQ/TWdf1ljClkI/AAAAAAAABpw/737oJmMC0xM/s1600/022511.png

I love this design. I remember it from the old comics (as above) and I remember it was the prototype AT-ST from Galactic Battlegrounds. It's such an amazing design to me. It just "fits".

http://techexile.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/SAM_0296.jpg

And here it is from 1979.

http://techexile.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/SAM_0299.jpg

The interior feels OT without being a rip off of the ROTJ version and without being too PT.

http://techexile.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/SAM_0294.jpg

I love these precursor AT-AT pilot-looking guys. I love the helmets.

Definitely based off these guys.

Ah, here's another classic look...

A bit better contrast.

http://techexile.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/SAM_0290.jpg

This is great. It's the E-11 look with those early rounded barrel flares from the concepts and posters.

http://techexile.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/SAM_0285.jpg

Yet another classic. I think they nailed this design. Familiar, yet not exactly the same.

http://techexile.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/SAM_0283.jpg

Check out the designs here, especially the tops of the buildings. It feels like more OT concept art to me.

http://i.imgur.com/ydV9V26.jpg

The main ship. I like it. Falcon without being Falcon.

http://i.imgur.com/tJKNdK4.jpg

Also a bit The Old Republic...

The design of the show is amazing. It's gorgeous. It's retro and nostalgic with so many designs based off of old concept art, and designs that I personally loved from my Art of Star Wars books, and best yet, it so perfectly screams OT. If this stuff doesn't get you jazzed for the show, then I dunno what will.

Why do these image heavy posts always make my connection choke? We really need a cut tag around here.

Ah, the Imperial Troop Transporter. Probably the first ever EU vehicle. I still like the design, but only carrying six guys, (besides the drivers) in a standing position must suck for long trips. Not to mention being a mobile shooting gallery for a potential sniper. ;)

I can't properly express how excited I am that the Troop Transport is going to be in the series. One of my all time favorite Star Wars vehicles. Judging by the design for the Rebels version I'd say it looks like it could probably hold up to 9 plus drivers. With the hatches opening up partially so they can aim out like in the original design as well coming down to be used as ramps. At least that's how I imagine that it'd work in a practical vehicle.

Yeah, sorry if it makes people chug. I would definitely hide them inside a spoiler or cut tag if I could. =/

They're worth seeing, though.

There are a couple more concepts in here (mostly the same stuff, though) with a bit of context as well.

I like the troop transport design for Rebels. Looks like it has doors leading inside so the poor stormies aren't more sitting ducks than they usually are. I'm so looking forward to seeing some proper Rise-of-the-Empire, iron-fist, crush-the-enemy stuff in this show.

Couldn't see them, had to stop the whole page to stop freezing. Could you change them to links, thanks.

I think its time to make a traditionally animated series for Star Wars. We already had a CG animated series, why not start fresh with a non CG one? I suppose it is about the formation of the Rebellion. I like how Disney is focussing on the original trilogy arc now what with the fact that they are making Episode 7. I'll check the show out when it airs.

I was afraid of that. I linked all but the first three. Let me know if it fixes the problem!

Guess we'll see soon enough if the Weisman curse holds true.  He lost Gargoyles at season 3 (coincidentally, the show was canceled after said third season), and two much beloved cartoons he's helmed - Spectacular Spider-Man and Young Justice - were prematurely canceled.

He used to have a website where he'd answer fans' plot and character questions years after the series went off air. He put a lot of himself into Gargoyles.
