STAR WARS I FAN EDIT

Hello. I am working with one friend in a Fan-Edit of the three prequel movies. We are from Spain and we will make them both in English and English with spanish subtittles. We have a problem with the spanish subtittles. We hardcode them to the movie using ffmepg, the command-line sofware we use for that, but it does not support SUP/pgs subtittles. This means we need to convert them to SRT. I tried to convert the PGS/SUP subtittles i obtained from the official Blu-Rays of the prequels to SRT using SubittleEdit program, and online using https://subtitletools.com/, but the result is not good, with a lot of errors like two words joined, or wrong letters. Do you guys know how can i convert the Blu Ray subtittles to SRT without any error?

No, Blu-Ray subtitles are basically image files, so any attempt to convert them from PGS to SRT is going to have errors that will need to be corrected, as it’s software trying to turn a picture into text. You’re probably better off finding SRT subtitles on the web somewhere, where someone else has already done the conversion and corrections.

Why the hell are they image files? Wouldn’t it be easier to have a function that displays text?

Universal compatibility so you don’t have to worry about players displaying fonts and things like drop shadows correctly, I guess.
