The addition of the Ghost is really a nice nod. However, I don’t know if Ady would consider this as I do not think he is including additions outside of OG trilogy now. I think the battle droid easter egg from the sandcrawler in ANH is going to be removed for the HD release too. I would love for the Ghost to be included though if possible.

I hope he leaves it in, it’s a very harmless easter egg imo. If you have never seen the prequels, it’s just another droid head and it’s not drawing any special attention.

I’m pretty sure he’s leaving it in. Though I’m not 100% sure.

from adywan’s website

Easter egg aside, I feel artistically it balances the frame nicely. You have R5; bright white to the two thirds mark, on an almost black background. Now you get the light tan to covering the first third. Its lighter than the backround but as its tan it does’t distract from the brightest thing in frame (R5). I like it.

He added Chopper to Echo Base in ESB:R. I’m sure we have some neat easter eggs to look forward to for ROTJ:R.

I had no idea chopper was added in his edit of TESB either. I’d like to see a screenshot too. That is really cool. I am glad Adywan has decided to keep the battle droid in his ANH HD edit also.

Rather than spoil it with an image I’ll just say he’s about 21 minutes into the film.

Is it in this shot?

OMG I had no idea!! He soo tiny never even knoticed him… Now thats how you add an easter egg to a film, without it feeling like a slap in the face with a wet haddock.

I think a few of the shots he presented could be included together. If it only appears once, then it not appearing for the rest of the battle breaks up that continuity

I like you, let us burn things together.

I think it’s a bit too prominent in the hangar shot, and makes a crowded shot just too crowded. But the shot with Ackbar and the DSII was very good. In general, the whole Rebel Fleet needs a lot of expansion anyway.

I think the point of an easter egg is that they are sublte enough that in missing them, they aren’t missed. So I doubt if it done right (if at all), only being in one shot would make its absance in others notable.

Are the hangar shots going to be replaced with physical dioramas like what was done with Empire Revisited?

Honestly, my number one ask is to replace that matte painting shot when Han is departing with the strike team and talking to Lando with the falcon in the background. It is the most obvious matte shot in the entire saga in my opinion. I am still shocked Lucas didn’t tinker with it during the special edition. Especially in HD it always stands out to me like a sore thumb to me.

Well, think of it like the Ghost in Rogue One. I entirely missed it on my first viewing, but it was in multiple shots to keep the battle consistent.

It’s hardly noticeable

I think the problem is they used a matte for the entire backdrop. They usually work a lot better when there’s other objects that help blend in to it. Like if the Falcon was a model, the rest as a matte wouldn’t be so bad. That poor ship is rough looking though.

I think it’s already being worked on.

I think it’s a lot worse in motion. Also, the left side behind Lando looks so flat. And something is weird with the perspective, especially if you focus on the bottom of the frame when they start moving around near the end of the shot.
