I wouldn’t attempt going at the Tatooine Sandstorm sequence as that scene IMO is unnecessary, but I might go ahead at it for the sake of it.

Haha, I love how awful that sanstorm is and how those guys are just having a chat, but then in Phantom menace a lil bit of dust blows around an they all need to take shelter.
Its something I’m hoping to mimic in a prequal edit if I ever get around to it, but that scene I agree is redundent, its just an alternate version of the scene where they all split up, teh dialog is the same. I would say tho that of any scene I which was added into ROTJ its something where Luke returns to his Aunt and Uncle’s or at least Ben’s as its odd he wouldn’t want to at least see them as he is on his home world. It could also be an exelent tie into why he arrives late or a clue as to where he gets his cristal and saber design (Obi Wan’s house).
Sadly I don’t think those shots could be cobbled together with the limited amount of clean footage, so I doubte its within the scope of any Fan Edit. Still nice to dream though.

Has it been done before?

I remember a youtube video that cleaned up the Sandstorm sequence, but when I asked for the file, it was in 480p and not in very good quality. I presume using Blu-Ray and doing the automated + manual cleanup plus some AI upscaling should do the trick if you want to bring back the otherwise narratively redundant scene.

I found a young guy on reddit that’s cleaning all trilogy deleted scenes. He seems to be doing some good work. He’s currently working of RotJ stuff so maybe worth reaching out?

I’m after the deleted calamari pilot shot so if anyone else takes this on would you mind sharing?

…only the bluray scenes or the rinzler ebook too?
would have them all cleaned…

For the scene when Luke surrenders himself to Vader, is it still being considered changing Vader’s line from “Obi-Wan once thought as you do” to “Your mother once thought as you do”?

I remember vividly Ridley attempted several attempts but couldn’t get it to sound right. Regardless, it would be an interesting adjustment.

An interesting thought I’ve had recently is that they might try to make this line make more sense retroactively through the Kenobi show. As in, before they fight Obi-Wan is like, “Come with me, it’s still not too late.” We’ll see.

Good Point. I wondered myself if they would try to shoehorn in Uncle Owen mentioning Anakin following Obi-Wan and getting involved.

I did a quick DNR pass at the footage and it doesn’t look half bad

Nice to see people haven’t given up on those deleted scenes. It’s not crap!

ROTJ’s my personal favorite movie of all time, it’ll be exciting to see the movie with the Revisited treatment.

I’m not really that much of a movie purist.
