Is the snow on fire in this picture?
Oh yeah I remember reading some time ago there were some questions about the wounds Luke got from the Wampa attack, here they are in a face picture from the TESB piccy.
It can be a bit hard to see when Luke's tumbling about in the snow, here you see them untouched.

Cool mock-up there vaderios, but I think the added SE flames have just been removed now.
I always thought that a bit of that 'casing' seen around the rim in the 'close-up' should be seen in the wide shot also though.
The snow would melt but the fire could still burn on top of the melt water the materials that are burning may have also melted so not be clearly visible as chunks (if it was some kind of oil based solid, inflammable polymer something like that).
The ice underneath could refreeze some of the melt water (there is a lot of ice there) so we might not be talking about an instant lake just a puddle with flames on top until the fuel runs out.
It might be fun if the impact set off an avalanche which the droid speeds away from.
Now that would put the flames out.
I just noticed that a couple pages back, but only yesterday, something I posted appeared 5 darn times. Just so you know, I didn't do a darn thing, but the page went away when I tried to type something after the use of the quote. After the page failed, I tried again and it seemed to work just fine. Until I looked back at what had occured since my last visit.
So it wasn't just Sky having mystery problems.
But I sure can try to set a new record, if there is an award.

Yes, i removed the SE flames and added some debris. I don't think there should be any flames, especially the amount in Angels mock-up, however great it looks. If there is that amount of accelerant in the probes pod to make that amount of fire on snow then surely it wouldn't have just produced a huge plume of vapour / snow. It would have exploded. And wouldn't that have damaged the probe in some way?The deep impact in the snow put out the flames from its atmospheric entry
Plus i think the shot of the probe emerging from the smoke is a perfect reveal. Very eerie. Fire would just ruin that
I agree that, despite looking very cool, flames wouldn't make very much sense because as I imagine it, these things would have been designed to land as non violently as possible so as to avoid damage.

Perfect. It always annoyed me how they added SE 'fire' to the wide shot, but didn't bother to match it with some in the 'close-up' too. All's well again.
By the way brash_stryker, that's the scariest thing I've seen since Halloween!

I meant the flames he already added after its entered the atmosphere when I wrote that. Sometimes the right words don't come to me until much later (like the "fuzzy nothingness" line for the ANHR Visual Comparison that I made up for my version and Ady used on the Official one and in the DVD commentary; makes me cringe now!)
