I was thinking about the space slug a few weeks ago and I think I've come up with a rather simple solution. I know Ady talked about redoing the space slugs mouth to make it look more cave like because of Leia's line as they're escaping.

But I was thinking instead of completely redoing the entire mouth, why not just darken the inside of the mouth so you can't clearly make out the teeth and gums?

Surely that would negatively impact the scene.

Noisy explosions in space place etc clearly place this film in the Space Fantasy genre so there really is no need to worry about pressure suits inside the exciting space slug.

Having an educated woman pointing at what are clearly giant teeth and thinking it's a cave mouth is more problematic but I can live with that if Ady can.

Han is and he was convinced when he flew into the thing.

Leia when she says the line was arguably close enough to make out the details.

It's no really a major issue for me but it's certainly more than the problems of walking around inside a space slug in a fantasy film because it reflects on the characters and not the physics and biology within a fantasy universe.

Back on topic.

It might be a good idea to itemise the last push for donations on this project.

Giving a general description of the sort of things needed to finish this one and a target sum which can be ticked off when it is raised might give potential donors a bit of focus and a more direct reward in knowing that they helped make this or that bit possible.

You find this often with other fund raising drives.

If was restoring a building it would be along the lines of A) restoring the roof tiles £... B) Fixing the windows $... etc.

When the 'building work' is done a donor for A) could look up at the nice new roof and think "I helped there".

The competitions tend to pass me by as I donate when I feel I can which is usually a few weeks before a competition is announced :-D (though I did appreciate getting the second prize in the workprint raffle).

Is it possible to rotate the cockpit of the tiefighters we see in exterior fly shots so it will match with the interiors?

Since you will redo the ANH:R with more 3d flexibility i thought that the continuity must be kept in ESB and ROTJ.

What do you mean rotate the TIE cockpits?  You mean the window behind the pilots that doesn't exist on the exterior?  I think the easier solution would be to insert some kind of wall behind the pilots rather than re-design the TIE.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Need pictures for examples, please.

In ANH for example we have the different cockpit as well in ROTJ too.

In ESB we dont have interior shots of the ties but still if that is to be fixed then why not changing them all for continuity sake...

The tie model has the octagon window that^ way.

In the cockpit view has it that way^ you cah see the octagon has been rotated

When it should have been that way^( ignore the fun game HUD)

Or just change the exterior like that way? ^

(full of crappy pictures today)

Small differences? Doesnt worth the shot? keep the continuity error as an urban legend of star wars?

Seeing as there are currently no TIE cockpit interiors in this film, fixing the cockpit interiors is more a subject for other threads.

It might be something people (including Ady) would want to address in ANH and ROTJ.

As for areas where TIE cockpit interiors could be used in ESB:R, the obvious place would be in the escape from Hoth/Asteroid field sections and perhaps less obvious the dodging the Executor sequence near the end.

A couple of uses might add something but It would difficult to do without recycling in the way that ROTJ already does and in my opinion it cheapens that film in a way I would be weary about doing with a near perfect film like ESB.

There are so many differences with the TIEs in ESB anyway, I don't think it even matters. (not to mention the extra workload for little payoff)

Differences? where? The different colors and the different firing rate? Since the R saga is to blend all together uniformly.

Ady confirmed that the ties will get a uniform (blue) treatment to ANH:R and all the R saga so im saying why not have the ties with the correct cockpit when the exterior shots are clear enough. Im not talking about the shots that the ties are dots but ESB has some nice close ups of the Ties that if only is important you can fix the error with the cockpits.

Please no.  Please please no blue TIEs in ANH.  I can see the EMPIRE TIEs being a new model (thus the different firing rate and different color), but to ret-con ANH would be going too far for me.

They were and always were white to grey in ANH.  Making them blue(er) in EMPIRE is one thing, as that is what they were to begin with.  Not in ANH, regardless of whatever the original model's paint job was (which I would like to see some images of).

It was my understanding that in the Revisited series TIE fighters were to be grey throughout (a decision which kicked up a bit of a fuss waaay back but one I liked).

The other TIE craft (introduced after ANH) would be their original colours too.

I rarely go on Facespace (or FE.COM either) so this place is my main outlet for updates.

It's Ady's call though, whatever he decides to do on his edits are alright by me.

One suggestion that was made someways back was that the Death Star's fighters were grey and the fighters from the Executor were blue which makes some sense I guess as it would be an indicator of where each fighter came from (a background detail that could be pay off for the keen eyed during ROTJ).

Re: icy breath, my vote would be to hold off. I don't think it's quite there yet - in particular, Han's breath in the opening sequence with Chewie looks a little off - and even if it was, it seems like a world of pain to do that for every person in Hoth.

I also don't think the TIE fighter colors need to match throughout. I think it's perfectly sensible to allow for a "newer" TIE model to have been rolled out by the empire during the passage of time between ANH and ESB.

The Hoth ice-breath looks nice and subtle, but not something that is necessarily needed, especially not if it is too much of a hastle to do.

On a side note, I have created a separate topic, where I am selling some Star Wars related items, and the entire income from this, will go directly to Adywan.

If any of you have something you wish to sell for the purpose of helping Adywan, you can just use the thread here: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Adywan-fund-raising-sale/topic/13037/

Now I just have to find the rest of my Star Wars stuff on the attic.

I think it's great what Adywan is doing for the OT. I was excited when I watched his trailer, but recently, all everyone is talking about are very pointless changes that nobody would even notice unless it was pointed out to them. The average movie-watcher/"star wars fan" wouldnt even notice hardly any of these changes, so sometimes i wonder why all this time is being wasted when it could be going toward something more worthwhile.

I mean adding icy breath isnt going to all of a sudden attract new people into watching these movies and change there mind about Star Wars.

I know these little changes are making all of you happy, but i dont think any of you realize what kind of potential you all have into getting some serious recognition and attention.

We should at least be thinking of big changes for the films that ACTUALLY need all this work. I really feel we should be all be doing these picture/video mockups for ROTJ and the PT (I realize there are some out there). I cant wait to see how the PT gets ripped apart and re-arranged strategically piece by piece into something that could be very special.

All in all, Empire should not have taken this long considering it needs the least amount of work done to it. Im all about coming close to perfecting these movies, but honestly, when the trailer came out, it seemed like this movie was going to be done shortly after the trailer release. And now we are all thinking of silly ways into delaying the release of the movie that really needs some fun, and difficult work done to it.

(I realize that there are threads and stuff for the PT and ROTJ, but i guess this ramble is mainly talking to adywan).

Just a ramble i felt i had to give. Dont hate me everyone!!

Well i'm really sorry that these "silly ways to delay the release" was down to my personal health issues, caring every day for over 2 years for my sick Mum and then losing her early last year followed almost immediately by my dad discovering he had cancer and i continued to care for him every day until we lost him a couple of months ago.And now it's the battle i have with my brother who turned into a huge ass since Dad died and wants everything his way. And also now because my ass of a brother has demanded a sale of dads house, i'm having to reorganise where the hell i am going to film and store all these miniatures and the Wampa cave set, which was all to be done at Dads.

The breath video was just a test to see if it could be done and how long it would take to do and if i liked the look of it, which i don't. I stated a long time ago that i would be taking time out from this edit so doing these few things were more of a distraction for me. Most people that have gone through what i have gone through since starting this edit would have given up a long time ago and, to be honest after seeing so many comments around the net complaining how long its taking me, i really wish i had.

I'm aiming for a May 2012 release date. I just need this break away from full on working on this edit or i will just go insane. All i want to do is build the miniatures in my spare time and then film them once ready. I will not be touching any effects, editing or composite work until all these are done and filmed. Last thing i want at the moment is to be stuck at the PC 24/7 like i was before all this happened.

I don't do these edits for recognition or attention. They are just something i wanted to do and share with everyone.

Sometimes personal things get in the way of these edits and reading a little way back in this thread would have given you all the answers as to why this is really getting delayed. But we don't hate you ;)

Speaking as one of the patient/grateful ones (I know that doesn't sound too humble, but it's true), I'm glad you're able to ignore all those greedy idiots. ;)

I said it once and I will say it again, Ady you need a vacation from this edit.   You could take 3 years off from this if you wanted to and it wouldn't bother me at all. I know that when it's finished, it's going to absolutely rock. So take all the time you need.

I totally forgot the main reason i came in here in the first place. lol. I posted this earlier over in the facebook group:

OK, i have come to a major decision regarding the prequels. I will be approaching these in a completely different way to how i am with the OT. I have decided that, instead of concentrating on one movie at a time, that ALL THREE will be done simultaneously. Madness, i hear you all cry. Well, yes it is pretty insane but it's actually a pretty logical move.

Now the prequels aren't going to be like the OT:Revisited saga. With the OT it has only been minor editing changes (well part from ROTJ:R) but the PT really need a major overhaul. A LOT of editing will be done. Now working on all three will really help with this. Say, for instance, that i have an idea of how the story flows in TPM that will later affect something in say ROTS then, if i finish that one first only to find that i can't pull it off when i get to ROTS, i will hit a huge stumbling block and the whole trilogy would fall apart. This way i can make sure that this doesn't happen as i will be able to try the changes out in the later films as i work on the first. Plus, as many of the locations are featured in all three films, and miniatures i need to build can be all filmed and used for each movie without the chance that these will either get damaged or that i won't have the room to store everything. And another thing, i will most likely need to film extra scenes/ inserts and if i needed someone for a character in TPM and then later in AOTC/ ROTS there is the chance that this person/ persons wouldn't be available and could put a stop me being able to finish what i started.

So there you go. Complete and utter madness and a huge workload but this can be done and is really the only possible way i can accomplish what i want to do with the prequels.
