Well, everyone can be whatever they want to, but if you're going to get very vocal and not understanding you might risk alienating some of your fans who read these forums. I'm very glad Adywan that you took your time to apologize. I like listening to people who know they should have limits and don't want to push people away.

How about the people who donated so he could buy fancy new hardware to complete his last project and work on this one? I'd say he definately owes them something! Selling this thing would be illegal and liable to draw the unwanted attention of LFL's lawyers, anyway.

Seriously, the point is that as soon as adywan creates a fan edit, and especially when he starts a thread soliciting feedback, he's open to the whole world's opinions, whether he likes it or not. I think as a big boy, he can handle it, jokes aside.

As an addendum, to make this about Star Wars movies, so Ady doesn't put me on ignore ;) I'm going to say... please don't modify the lines in ROTJ about Leia and Luke's mother at all. Mess with Revenge of the Sith. Please no more toying with the Originals to "make them fit" with the Prequels. That's Lucas' fault, and it shouldn't be taken out on the original movies, no matter how many "ESB is better than ROTJ" fanboys there are out there. People agree that Hayden replacing Shaw was a travesty (and I say BRING THE DANGED EYEBROWS BACK! Put CG eyebrows on Hayden if you have to in ROTS, I don't care... but Shaw looks far worse without them)... don't add to it!

There, rant over. In four years, I hope people remember I said that!

Who am I kidding, I have on more thing to say on here... the idea of Fett getting decapitated by Luke is pretty awesome sounding, but then we won't get to hear him scream as the Sarlacc crunches him (with beak) or swallows him (sans beak). Perhaps a deleted scene? Luke getting all slice 'n' dice would be perfect for that. ;)

PS: BD-R would be pointless for piracy now anyway, because the recordable media costs as much (sometimes more) than the commercial movies! But perhaps they're reluctant for the future, when the price eventually comes down. They can't fight it forever!

I agree with the idea of not altering the OT to fit in with the prequels though.

last night was one of the best in my life.

I sat down with a bottle of wine, my wife asleep on the sofa and
my newborn daughter in my arms and watched Star Wars revisited
with a grin on my like a Cheshire Cat.

My only one niggle is that I  found the yellow commentry text a little hard to read at times.

Aside from that, it felt like I was watching the film again for the first time. Outstanding.
Lucas himself must be gutted that you have re-worked it better.

Adywan, you are a genius.

 I personally see Jedi as just as much a blot on the Star Wars landscape as either of the first two prequels, so personally I have no problem bending it to fit in with ROTS which for all it's faults is closer to the first two films we saw than Episode VI ever was (besides it's easier to trim one line of dialogue than figure out some editing/effects solution to allow for Panda Bear to survive Episode III for long enough for Leia to remember her and I want to make things as easy as possible for the over worked chosen one).

But we are wandering off the Empire track again and Adywan is, rightfully in a "not as forgiving mood" with all the hard work he is throwing down at the moment.

I also agree that the OT should not be modified to fit the PT. Any unevenness exposes the flaws in the PT, not the OT.

And while it's getting ahead of things, I've always hated that Boba Fett 'dies' in ROTJ. Best to leave it open to the potential for his survival, as he does in EU stories. There is no reason to step on those story lines. As I understand Adywan's philosophy, this is about preserving Star Wars while refining the technical and fx side of things, not rewriting it (at least not the OT).

[ROTJ was terrific. Jabba the Hutt, Yoda, Boba Fett, another Death Star, Admiral Ackbar, the Emperor, good story line...and yes, I even liked the Ewoks. Could the battle have been orchestrated in a more believable and realistic manner? Yes. But as Yoda said, "Judge me by my size, do you?"]

I think the easiest and least instrusive solution to the "Boba" issue would be to just give him a better scream or even no scream. Yes, he still dies in a silly fashion but I don't think anything in the OT ought to be completely revised. Also, I think Ady should make a ROTJ thread now so we can discuss these things ahead of time.

Perhaps. The tread keeps getting side tracked with talk about the prequels, ideas for Jedi and even refrences to backstroke of the west (it took a few seconds to figure out what the Panda Bear reference was about) ;-)

By the time we get to Jedi, all the ideas will be scattered throughout this thread.

Adywan, at the transition 'wipe' (1:22:08 PAL 'timing') which changes from Luke's X-wing flying away from 'Dagobah' to a reveal of Bespin 'floating city' in white clouds, I miss the movement and roar of the orange twin-pod vehicle that came directly towards us in the original GOUT version.  It was removed in the SE, and replaced with a 'floating gas refinery' instead.  The 'floating gas refinery' is fair enough, but I'd sure like to see the movement of a twin-pod vehicle back here, which gave the original shot a bit more life.  There are a few existing elements which could be used or 'flipped' for this (either coming at us or away from us), and it's just something else to consider come the time.

Those clouds in that same shot also need to be changed becasue they are the exact same ones in another shot mirrored.

Anyone got a picture of this? I messed up my image by clicking save on my master copy at the wrong time. Its a poster that came with C&VG mag or Crash64 many moons ago.

Thanks Ripplin. I'll have a look, though im sure its not there (at least not last time i was there). Trust me, ive been digging around where i got it from before i even asked. Its always great to have a heads up though.

EDIT: where did the B&W still originate from (besides DarthNeo)? Is that perhaps a deleted scene from the Hoth battle, as its way to detailed for a mock up shot?
