Well sorry I still don't understand.  A ride?  I am not familiar with the Disney Star Tours so I am sorry for asking that stupid question.  Please disregard.

Ah! Yes, it's a ride at Disney. The posted picture is just concept art from the new ride.

In the scene where Luke gets his new hand, the droid simply flips two panels down to close his wrist. However, it seems like if he moved his hand at all, the wrist cover would flip open very easily. Is it possible to make it look like the wrist cover snaps shut more securely? It looks really flimsy as-is. Also, matching the color of the wrist to the color of Luke's hand would go a long way in selling the illusion.

This comment will be a little out of place, as it refers more to your future projects than the present, but I was trying to think of ways to tie things together in the ways that you have outlined elsewhere.  You mentioned that the prequel trilogy would need some major plot restructuring to maintain important surprises when the trilogy is watched from Episodes I-VI, most notably the fact that Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker.  That would of course require the removal of Palpatine's "anointing" him, as well as his breaking Padme's heart and the subsequent lightsaber duel with Obi-Wan.  What occurs to me is that with these important scenes removed, you lose much of the understanding of how Anakin fell.  However, I agree completely that the PT spoils a lot of the surprises of the OT.  A possible solution would be the insertion of a flashback scene during Obi-Wan's background exposition to Luke on Dagobah in ROTJ.  It would be up to you if you wanted to utilize the whole scene or merely clips of course, and perhaps some Alec Guiness impersonations to expand upon the flashback.  While the scenes spoil the ultimate secret of Vader's relationship to Luke, I don't feel it should be discarded completely.

PT:R is a long way off but if you can come up with ideas along those lines you would be very welcome to discuss them on the Prequel Radical Redux Thread or the ESB/ROTJ Wishlist thread (which has become more of a ROTJ ideas thread of late).

Been away from this thread for awhile so I just wanted to say great news all around, Ady. Glad to hear about your dad, winning all the cool tech and the Blu-ray version of your edit. Cheers!!!

Placing flashbacks into any of the Star Wars films is not something i would ever consider.

Phew.

Is it even possible to rework the prequels so much to preserve things like the big reveal at the end of Empire without totall undermining the whole structure of them?

Would deleting them from existence altogether undermine their structure?  Yeah, I suppose it would.  Might be worth it, though.

But...you're linking to another discussion topic on this very site. Why would we need to discuss it here?

That is certainly fine with me if Adywan and no one else finds the idea appealing.  I just cannot think of any other way to do what Adywan has stated elsewhere that he intends to do, that being the restructuring of the storyline so as to preserve the big surprise.  The only thing I can think of as an alternative would be to turn the PT into a 1 or 2 part movie, removing a great deal of detail, but still hinting at Anakin's potential for falling.  In reality, I think Episode III would have to almost entirely be removed.  But I was just offering an idea, and don't want to get the thread any further off the topic of his current project than necessary.

I believe adywan already said he's got his plan in place for it and to stop worrying about it.

Have faith!

Just do what I do....accept the prequels as the garbage that they are, and move on. Then you won't care what he does with them. If he manages to take crap and turn it into a masterpiece then you've got a very pleasant surprise waiting for you somewhere down the road, but if not, you won't care. I've been ignoring the prequels for years, and it works great!

I'm the same way. Working on the prequels will be great, and I'm very interested in what he has planned, but if it doesn't work, we can just keep ignoring them!

I used to feel that way, but surprisingly they've slowly grown on me in recent months.  I think this is partly due to recently reading the novels where I can pretend the acting is great, and they also provide a more serious tone and extrapolate on many of the details that are not explained clearly.  Perhaps that is why I am more willing to integrate the two trilogies better.

And I am not making any further effort to change his mind.  I know many others have offered their input and just wanted to give my two cents.  He didn't like it, so I'm done.

I dont want to have to consult additional material to enjoy a film. If its not enjoyable the way it is, then its a failure.
