I beg your pardon? English is not my mother tongue, so I apologize for not understanding exactly the meaning of your comment. One comment is not spam, for what I understand.

No apology necessary.  In this case, spam refers to someone advertising a product or service here instead of having a legitimate interest in the topic.  Your username, avatar, and profile tend to suggest you are advertising.  However, your post *looks* legitimate.

Note that it is not my place to determine what is spam and what isn't.  I'm just a fan of spam for the comedy it usually provides.

I hope this has been informative.

Thanks for the advice, Frink, no spamming intended.

Just happens that I am both a SW fan and and HLF distributor!

But if that's 'offensive' to anyone I'm changing my avatar and my profile, no problem :-)

May the Force be with you all

Nice post, EvilSupes.

Thanks :-)

I was just saying what everyone was thinking from dphirschler's summary of this thread really. I meant every word. Adywan is a true saviour to the Star Wars fanbase. No doubt just about every Star Wars fan out there who discovers Ady's work will feel truly privileged to enjoy the Star Wars movies again and for that I can't express into words how grateful I am of his work.

Having loved Darth Editous's version, it was really neat to see your own 'test' preview of the 'zoom-in' towards the 'Vane'/'Pod' adywan.  Like DE's, it gives the original matte shot a real sense of life now, and your movement looks tremendous.

However, I'm wondering if your preview means that you aren't doing your original 'model set' idea anymore?  Or is that still a possibility?  Thing is, if you are now keeping the original matte of the 'Vane'/'Pod' as it is as shown in shot 1 below....does this mean that the current problems will have to remain?  Such as where it's outermost edge seems thinner all the way around in shot 1 compared to the 'gradually thickening' towards the base of it in shots 2, 3, and 4....along with the fact that the 'angled' bend of the front top-half as seen in shots 2 and 3 are different to shot 1 too.  These issues have been brought up before, but I'm just curious, although your previewed effect is certainly a huge improvement to the way the original shot looks -

Well the matte has gone though a few modifications since the preview. The gantry and walkway have been shrunk, along with the window and the sphere at the top has been made larger and had a few modifications. The scale as it stands now makes the chance that the carbon chamber could be at the top of the structure more believable.

Here it is in 720p mp4.

And no, i won't be putting this on Youtube and i really don't want anyone else to either. I'm so fed up with how crappy youtube makes the videos look with their recompression. The last video looked like crap yet i uploaded the exact same one to facebook and it looked great. It's only a small download anyway.

Holy cow, Batman!

That 720p clip looks absolutely awesome! Great stuff!

Yeah youtube has really screwed up the compression settings. Used to be able to get some really great HD quality stuff on there and now it looks no different from any high quality SD content, except the SD quality has also got significantly worse in some cases too.

Yeh, ESB:R has been a real struggle. So many things have happened i'm surprised i haven't gone mad. I can't believe that i've got to wait until the end of next week before i can get an appointment to see the doctor because they don't class it as an emergency. Oh well, i'll just have to suffer these headaches a bit longer.

I am not surprised it has been a struggle mate - anyone would've found it a struggle and probably given up when you consider what you have had to go through.

I know what you mean, the NHS here in the UK is damn terrible at times. You could be nearly dying with something and they'd still make you wait ridiculously long. Makes me feel like going privatised at times but I can't afford it and I probably couldn't afford the insurance either on top of all my other bills. Hopefully they will check you over and give you some relief. I know a few people who suffer from migraines and it puts them out of action every now and then because it can be very debilitating - so I really empathize with what you are saying.

Anyway, get well soon. :-)

Adywan,

When this is all done, have you considered posting it as version 0.99 beta to allow for one last round of nitpicking before the final version is released?

I wouldn't blame you if you didn't want to, but it would allow for any last whoopsies to be corrected so you don't have to post patches or 1.01 versions, etc. and if any other ideas come forward that you like, you could implement them.  Sometimes seeing a finished product spawns new ideas for improvements that leads to something even better, kind of like with software development.

Thanks,
Mike

That small clip is absolutely stunning. I really can't wait for this to be finished. Watching ESB:R will be like watching it for the first time. I am getting so excited for this release words cannot even describe it. Great job as always Ady!

The clip that ady posted is more than meets the eye :D

I never thought it would be so different from the original/previous one :D

The shape looks more like mc's paintings :)

The thing that I like about it is:

It doesn't look like a new shot was placed there, it looks like it was done right the first time around.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

That shot is absolutely gorgeous. Well done again, adywan!

My one and only criticism would be the blinking lights. There are so many that they become the dominant feature in the shot for me. Maybe it's because they flash so quickly and they're all in synch, they don't seem real somehow. I would think the bottom lights, which are larger than a man, would take a little longer to cycle on and off. Is it possible to slow them down a bit?

I second asterisk8 comment: I think it would be better to slow down the flashing of the bottom lights, perhaps not turning them off completely, more like an "energy fluctuation". The top lights are just fine, I wouldn' touch them.

Again, Ady, thanks for your titanic efforts during this dark (migrainic) times!

WOW!  Neither did I. (and thanks for that handy comparison vaderios)

The new 'squater'-looking shape is great and the shorter-look of the 'long extending arm' now ties-in better with when the structure is seen from below during Luke's fall.  In addition to all the other tweaks, it's so neat to see that extra bottom light added in, as well as the outer edge 'tapering thicker' towards the bottom.  And the larger 'bubble' at the top of the 'Vane'/'Pod' definately better sells the possibility of the 'Carbon Chamber' being located there now.

The finished shot is a complete success adywan, and thanks for showing it.  :)

Yes, don't mind Frink. He has big hairy feet that he likes to put in his mouth sometimes. :p

I'm going to disagree with both of those assertions.
