Then again, Ady could always add the alarm guy from FISTFUL OF YEN (at 5:30)

Excellent work on the clip Ady!  The colour is fantastic (especially on the landing platform, where you turned the blue to brown once again), and the little extra FX are great (added traffic, added blast on trooper Chewie hits).

Just wondering though... the stormtrooper that gets hit just before the scene where 3PO bumps his head on the Falcon, it looks like there's a black mark on his chest before he gets hit.  Had you noticed it?  If so, was it not possible to eliminate?  Or am I not seeing things correctly?

there's one on the trooper who follows him also.

Question. Are the blank shells coming out of the blasters going to remain?

NJM, Have you tried Apple Color, it comes with FC Studio

Not possible.  I'm running OS 10.4.11 on a seven year old G4.  Final Cut Studio requires Mac OS 10.5.6 with an intel processor.  Hell, my video card is only 128MB of VRAM.

Hopefully, I mean he left them in ANH:R, right? To my mind they add a little more realism (because we know they can't possibly be true "laser" weapons", and the EU even has them have ammo and shell casings, etc.)

PS: See you all in about seven months!

Holy crap, the lasers aren't real? This cannot be! They must be real :(

I haven't been this depressed since I found out that Santa only had 6 reindeer.

The EU is so much revisionist history. "Oh, look, shell casings in the movie. Uh, uh...yeah, they were always in the Star Wars universe. Yeah." :p

From what I've read of the EU, it's not just revisionist history (I also consider the prequel trilogy to be entirely revisionist) but repetitive history.

after viewing that clip i got to thinking... wouldn't the entire bespin mining colony be shot to crap with lasers? do lasers lose intensity the further they travel? or do they just keep going and going? hmmm, i guess i should read The Physics of the Impossible by Michio Kaku.

so i guess what i'm wondering is, shouldn't there be burn marks all over the place? just one of those weird thoughts.

EDIT: I think I found my answer. duh...

"Properties of Laser Light Laser light has three unique properties. First, it is collimated which means it travels in a single direction with very little divergence even over long distances Ordinary light waves spread and lose intensity quickly.
Second, laser light is monochromatic, consisting of one color or a narrow range of colors . Ordinary light has a much wider range of wavelengths or colors."

Not to keep us off topic but just in the defense of the EU. It's first purpose is to explain and and expand upon the things we see in the films.

As for an explanation of how blasters work:

In particle-beam based blasters, like the E-11 used by stormtroopers, a small amount of high-energy gas moved from the heter valve to the chamber commonly called the XCiter. In the XCiter chamber, the gas was energized by the power pack, then passed into the actuating blaster module, which, when assisted by the components in the barrel, processed the now extremely high-energy gas into a compressed beam of intense energy particles, coupled with intense light, which generated the deadly high-energy particle beam fired from most blasters. In these blasters, the combination of superhot laser-light and a compressed bolt of intense energy particles formed the deadly bolt.

Blaster bolts usually dissipated in a small, but violent explosion of extreme heat and force upon contact with an unshielded surface, sometimes leaving blast points.

So anyway, how's the workstation coming along Ady?

And repeat essentially the same story in both pre-film and post-film history.

In other words, essntially a plasma gun.

So.....the blank shells stay?

If they're still in ANHR, they should stay in ESBR, for continuity's sake.

As much as I'm down on the EU... the fact there are shell casings in the movies and the shell casings are also in the EU... ... how is that a bad thing?

Adywan,

Maybe I've read so much here in the past day that my eyes are now non functional...but I thought I read in one of the posts that you were going to correct the eye line mismatch for Luke when the Falcon leaves Hoth.  I checked your first post and didn't see that as part of the changes.

But I did just download the "final trailer" from the first page and it appears that it is fixed...hmph!

The list is incomplete, to say the least. ImperialFighter has a more accurate list.

RotJR will have a definitive list from the start. ;-)

I never said it was a bad thing, did I? ;) But you must admit that they often change things for the sake of convenience, or years after the fact to fit with something else. Remember when Obi-Wan and Lars used to be brothers? Haha.

Just remember you are talking about a guy that read 10 400-page EU Star Wars novels in a span of two months (NOT recommended, cuz I could barely remember a thing a week later), so I have no problem with EU itself.

I must admit I never thought that shot needed anything added, but wow(!)

It brings so much life to that shot, not to mention giving it a much more expansive and acrophobic feel.

If you can watch it on the ESB:R facebook group then i would recommend it as youtube video quality really sucks and has taken out all the detail

shouldn't the carbonite pod (above the window Luke eventually gets sucked out of) be 1.5 to 2 times bigger to account for the size of the carbonite chamber set?

Also, should the window Luke just came out off (if not being broken - don't know if it would be visible enough) have a darker, redder appearance to match the interior of the room Luke came out of, instead of the yellow light?

I remember the darth editous version was especially impressive, innovative: how to improve and change and not betray the original version, which summarizes all the efforts that have been made by D.E and Ady
