Not it wasnt :P

You harly see the reflection but its there.(ady will say: all these will be downgraded when the PT:R comes)

Besides the perspective in ESB is a bit weird so the reflection is not all the time in the glass. Vader is overlap most of the glass area too.(Ady will say: No need to add any reflection, the focus in on the characters and too much work.) :P

Adding saber reflection to the glass?

This is a tweek I would endorse,

It's a shame these suggestions are coming so late in the day because I imagine some of them cover areas Ady considers done and dusted.

I don't find the reflections a distraction at all. the reflected glow in the previous mockup is great too but it is a lot of more work if Ady hasn't already implemented some of these ideas, though I hope he will give it serious consideration.

I originally thought that the 'reflections' of Luke standing on the lit-up floor rectangles seen in the glass window, had been added for the 2004 DVDs when they came out....but on checking the GOUT realised they had always been there.

So I personally like this idea of the sabers being 'reflected' subtly too, especially in the shot when Luke is closer to the window after he's recovered from being hit on the head by a flying object.  (Having said that, I guess all the 'reflections' could be removed from the window instead, alternatively)  Either way, consistency would be good here.

Just how easily seen Luke's 'reflection' currently is, can be seen at the very end of this clip -  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qf_IthivGgA

These ideas are coming anyways Bingo. The question is if its more work to ady or how soon the fans want the edit. or both? :)

I know that ady keeps the things grounded so that thing held me back. But you know depend the mood of making these mockups.

Interaction make the effects more grounded and real.

dont see it as PT thoughts

anyways.

Wow, that's cool!  But it should look more like Vader's saber is in front of Luke's in the reflection.

I find the lightsaber reflections distracting, regardless of how much sense it makes.  I love the saber fix a few posts earlier, however.

Well, the problem is we can see Luke's leg and the floor panel reflected in the window - if the lightsabres aren't reflected, then all reflections should be taken out (unless the light from the sabres are g-g-g-g-ghosts!)

EDIT: got beaten to the punch!  You know, I'm surprised Ric didn't point this out before any of us.  Man, Ric, you're slipping!  "Hey, there's Luke reflected in the window... but WHERE ARE THE LIGHTSABRES?!"

Angel, Do you do most of your work at the resolution that it is posted here?

I do most of the mockup work at 1920x816 px

-Angel

Sweet!  So, how does a one go about getting some hi-rez copies of some of the stuff you've posted here?

From the position of the leg reflection, would you even see the sabers in the glass? It almost looks like that leg is positioned back away from the sabers and perhaps the sabers would be on the wall.

I disagree following the perspective of the interior space and the existing reflections I think the blades in Angel's mock-up are in exactly the right place.

Well, i've  just looked at the whole sequence and that is the only shot where you may even see a reflection from the sabers. But upon a closer inspection the most you may even see would be the tip of Vader's blade. Here's a very quick sketch of the reflection

As you can see, Lukes stance is leaning forward and tracing the line of the leg that we can see , the line of the floor light and his other foot which is off the side of the floor light there is no way you would see Luke's blade at all. So, is it worth adding just the tip, even though you may not even see it anyway? I don't think it's worth it

It depends just how correct and "realistic" (as realistic as Star Wars can be) you want to be with your edit.  If you intend for this version to be as definitive as ANH:R, then I would say that means adding even that little bit of reflection, for the sake of completion and so that you can say that you're the first one to fix EVERYTHING in one of the most popular and famous sequels of all time in one of the most legendary film sagas of all time.

But is that really a fix? Or is it Ady pleasing the fans? I think Ady's right in this case... It's not needed.

I like that i chose the frame that it shows the reflection and ady chose the one that isnt. anyways whatever :P

Well..yes :D

If there should logically be a reflection there when there isn't one, no matter how small, then yes, it would indeed be a fix.

Same frame from my point of view, Angel.  :-P

Well actually Angel, i chose the frame where Luke's position is the furthest back which shows more of the reflection and is the only frame where the tip of the sabre may have been visible. Also it is only 2 frames after your pic.  In your frame there is no chance there would be any reflection from the sabers.

So should i add just the smallest tip of Vaders lightsaber to just 1 frame? Because thats the sum total of frames where you may even see it

I agree with Adywan here, for the most part. I think that Luke is just a little bit more to the left in the window, but not as far left as Angel things it is.

By the way.. I think that blue and red moving highlights could appear on the bare metal tubes on the back wall!

Agreed agreed! :P

I will find something else to put to the debate table :)

The only thing that i did like about the reflections of the lightsabers was to make the window actually look more window like than just a frame, i know the glass smashes later on in the scene lol, maybe someone might add a slight shine or reflection of the interior where they are fighting to make the window look more realistic?

If you want your edit to be complete and definitive in terms of fixes (something that I believe you started Revisted to do in the first place), then absolutely, you should add that tip to that one frame, and anywhere else it might be needed.

I like that idea about reflecting light in those tubes behind Luke, too, but I'm just starting to become a frequent poster here and I don't want Adywan to hate me, lol.

Sheesh... Gotta say, this debate is a bit silly. But, it's cool.

well considering that on average i think cameras work at 25 frames per second its worthless doing, it would literally be that quick you probably wouldnt see it.

I thought it was just a mechanical tool but Chewie is so frantic to fix the Hyperdrive he has caused electricity to arc to it (I hope it's got an insulated handle otherwise the smell of cooked Wookiee hair will take weeks to clear).

With the reflection thing drawn out like that it's hard to debate it, sometimes eyeball Mk 1 is not enough (unless the eyeball is really good).

Shame because it does look good even if it is a few frames but that isn't enough to justify the work.
