that has been fixed also :)

Loving that bespin shot Angel. :)

Nice idea, but it seems a little too light to match the other shots in that scene

Again very nice but would there even be a ray of light when the planet was almost completely covered with cloud and fog when he arrived?

The main problem with the original matte shot is that it doesn't match either the previous or following shots. As Luke is crashing through the trees its obvious just how foggy this place is and after this shot we see it is very foggy. So what really needs doing to that shot is add the dense fog

Good Good! many fixed stuff!

Thanks ;)

The light setting was optional like i said. you can see it as concept for missing detail and more real/natural feeling

The light ray again is artistic liberation. take it out :P

Add fog then :D

I love how we can go on and on about how to fix something, and not only was Ady aware of it, he fixed it already.  I'm all for incorporating Angel's work, especially for the added detail he gets out of the shots.

I'm sensing the Visual Comparison for ESB is going to make the ANH one look like something-that's-not-as-impressive.  Please tell me you've started already.

One thing that annoys me a bit about when Vader enters Echo Base.   His helmet seems wierd... like extra short or something.  It's hard to explain.

Heh, that's great to know about those Yoda shots, and it'll be interesting to see just how you actually did them.

Also -  of course!, just add MORE fog, lol.  Shots improved by just doing that.  Perfect!  :)

I just watched "Labrynth" and the sequence where the puppet-monsters took off their heads. It was effects by ILM using men in black velvelt suits and old school double exposures and optical matting, but it got me  thinking about Yoda.

Imagine for a moment, if in AOTC, instead of a CGI Yoda, we had a fully realized puppet capable of all sorts of amazing things the original puppet was not capable of, because ILM would digitally erase puppeteers from the frame!

Yoda could be simultaneously manipulated from below, above, and boths sides, allowing an unimaginable range of movement and expression for a puppet, while keeping that intrinsic heart and reality a puppet carries.

If only.

That will be the cape.

If you think about it Vader's helmet is the peek of a black triangle formed by his cape, when the cape get's pulled back the triangle shape turns into an obelisk (a small triangle on top of a rectangle) but the Adyman has spoken.

I personally like the light added.  There just needs to be fog to counter it.  The light pic looks more realistic compared to the original.  (Angel's pic is what I'm refering to)

In finding a screenshot to show that Angel's ray of light wouldn't be possible, I also was reminded of another one of my gripes.

While the cockpit keeps rocking back and forth at the same rate, the outside seems to cut suddenly from the top frame to the bottom, where it continues until it hits the water.

Fixing it could be as easy as fading from the top to the bottom frame really fast, or reconfiguring the scene as follows:

Luke starts the landing sequence, shot of R2, moved beginning of cockpit, Luke concerned, continuing cockpit shot to crash.

I'm sure Ady has already fixed it though. ;-)

Surely if the fog is that thick the view through the cockpit should get darker all the way down until it's as dark as the exterior shots when it hits the water?

Presumably the X-Wing has some kind of fog lights but they wouldn't light up the whole sky around the ship.

Here's what Angel's mock-up looks like with much the same lighting levels as the original (it still looks better) :

I've already fixed this. It looks like they spliced 2 different videos of the outside together which caused a jump cut. I've fixed the jump cut :)

Not to mention that the last shot is flipped.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

It's actually not.  You just can't see the little dongle hanging to the left side in the previous still.  It's on both sides of the cockpit.

Angel dagobah

Well, why could light like this not be present? it's likely at times that it could be unless Yoda uses some kind of force trick on the weather elements to cover things up.

Dagobah like most other planets has moving could cover and it's quite noticeable in the movies. It even have large breaks in the cover as well, so we do see the planets surface here.

Here is an interview from starwars.com about Dagobah-->

http://www.starwars.com/kids/explore/reallife/f20060531/index.html

for The Empire Strikes Back, Associate Producer Robert Watts went to real-world swamps in Florida, South America, the Caribbean and East Africa to explore possible filming locations.

Moi moi !  Lookie lookie :D

Here you see Dagobah from Empire and the next ones are Dagobah from Rots.

See? open dots with Greens ^_^ that means welcome sun light...right?

Actually you have absolutely right. The helmet of vader, changes all the time. The one you pointed as short is the one that when he turns his head to the right direction, right?. Well that helmet supposed to be the first helmet to be in production and its from ANH as well. the mask and the helmet is glued together so there is no way to be separated. but after that they rethink the length of the helmet:)

Another very nice piece of work there vaderios!  I've been looking forward to Adywan's improved background to this shot to really open the scope of it.

Your version brings up something -  I see you've added a couple of extra 'Transports', but I always thought the one in the shot was meant to be the last one to leave....

The other Transports that were evacuating Hoth would have been leaving throughout the AT-AT ground battle scenes which have gone on for a while now by this stage of the movie, and C3PO says "Your Highness, we must take this last transport...it's our only hope'' a few scenes before this shot.

On the other hand, Leia then agrees with Han to leave, saying "Give the evacuation code signal....and get to your transports" to the operators still in the control room with her.

On top of this, when Han and Leia's exit is blocked by a tunnel collapse as they try to leave, Han radios "Transport, this is Solo....better take off, I can't get her to you.  l'll get her out on the Falcon".  This seems that he's referring to just a single one that's left....although he could just be in contact with a particular one that he'd organised to get her onto, and although there may be others left, they're all in the same spot he knows he can't get to now....

So things seem a bit inconclusive.  Perhaps either the "last" in C3PO's line could be removed, or the 's' in Leia's "Transports" could be instead, to clarify whether there's only one left or not at this point?

Fog then

@ImpFighter: i know about the transports. I add the 2 more in the last time. no big deal. The landscape and the more croud scenery counts.

EDIT: Some shots seems the X wing is flipped. If ady has a better solution rather flip the shot then be my guest :) Also correct me if im wrong. Is just a theory.

And in fact if the flip shots cause more mess, just change the matte shot lol!

Also ady from existing shot, is a good reference what i was talking about, about fog and tree shapes. you can add some silhouettes to wall like fog areas, only to define space and tones without many matte work.

I don't think the fog in the opening Dagobah shot would work. It is too dense.  But, I really like the one that Bingowings did.  It lookes way more realistic (like it was shot in a real location).  It has just enough light and enough background detail to work.

Dagobah

Actually that shot of Dagobah from ESB is as Luke is leaving. Just look how cloud covered Dagobah is when he arrives

So its highly doubtful there would be a ray of sunlight bursting through the trees when he crash lands

It's not just the helmet thats different in on Hoth. Has anyone seen Vaders knee length inner robe? Looks like a skirt. lol

No, the xwing in those shots is fine as it is. if you look just after R2 is swallowed you can see Luke running to the other side of the pool, so all the shots are correct

Oh, i didn't understand what you meant at first. Yeh the x-wing in the matte has the wrong wing out of the water, so that needs fixing

On another note, anyone that is awaiting a reply from me to a PM or email , i will get back to you as soon as i can but i'm really busy lately so i haven't had much time to go through them all. I will get back to you but its just going to take a little time
