Think that may have been my fault. Topic secured elsewhere! With regards to the Luke line of "father"... never had a problem with this, infact it always felt like a temptation because... well it's his dad! That's what i thought as a kid mind.

Okay... here's a better revised version of the cover... I have not justified the text (which all comes from the 2004 DVD release) as surprisingly it's a pain in the ass to do! But I'll have a stab when I can be bothered to trudge through it all. Removed DTS logo and made suggested text ammendments. Not finished yet though (yes the logo on the front still needs a bit of work)...

And here's the A New Hope one. NOW... before anyone heaps too much criticism on this one... I'm not totally convinced on it one myself. The colour scheme doesn't quite gel (although it leads from the fronts colours)... thinking I might manipulate the poster a bit to keep it in line with the ESB one above. Ho hum... will sleep on it and see what I make of it tommorrow... (for some reason the upload to picassa messed up the image a bit!)...

That's me done. Enjoy!

VincentSmalls, welcome to the boards. I absolutely love those covers and their retro look. One suggestion i would make is for the ROTJ cover. If you can find a retro art pic of vader then i would add him above the battle pic to sort of mimic the ANH cover. You have Vader very prominent in the first two but his appearance is lacking in the third, so i think this would really tie al three together.

On another note, when EMPIRE:R is finished, will it be possible to use the 720p version for the complete DL DVD release via an ISO file and ImgBurn, so that rather than the typical MKV or TS file (which would be movie only) menus and extras could be included in one complete package?

I know over at tehp@r@dox they have 720p files that only come out to 4.3gb in size and still look fantastic.  Again, they are movie only, but if one were to put it on a dual layer DVD, that would leave roughly 2 to 4 gigabytes for other things.

Just wondering...

When ESB:R is released, the 720p version will be released as a DL-AVCHD that will play on PS3's and Blu-Ray players with a menu and maybe even some extra features

I noticed that this Treadwell might as well be called Deadwell, It's just sitting in the middle of the hanger not moving or working on anything, doesn't it know there is a war on?:

Busy Doing Nothing

ha ha, yeh that droid is totally dead. Maybe they are really the Rebel Eco Alliance and have switched him off to conserve energy  and save Hoth from global warming. ;)

Looking through the movie, there are many droids in the hangar that are just motionless, so i may just leave this one alone

A space slug mouth interior with pointy like stalagmites teeth to replace the old one.

No, I'm not doing that one.

Monroville said:

Here is a suggestion for an extra on the DL DVD or whatnot:

would it be possible to include a remastered version of the Boba Fett cartoon from the Holiday Special (as in JUST the cartoon)?

Here is a link:

An interesting idea for a special feature. Might do something with that cartoon, if there's enough space left on the disc that is. :)

Still wondering just how far down into the 'asteroid hole' the Slug is meant to be, as it seems that at the very start of the 'leaping out' shot that the front end of it is not quite out of the hole yet.  Should we be seeing a partial inside of the asteroid hole BEYOND the teeth, in any of the shots leading up to that 'leaping out' shot?  I'd certainly like to see a hint of the 'small asteroids' that are flying around in the distance everywhere....

This 'mouth interior' model is one of my most looked forward to!  :)

I only discovered afterwards that you've already added a hint of asteroids to this shot now....which looks great.  :)

Here's the moment -  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaO1OWxJeRU&feature=related

And thanks for confirming those nashers are staying.  :)  :)

Cheers Ady, I was thinking along the same lines about putting Vader into the Jedi one. Gonna mock something up myself and will post on the covers thread next week. Hope it's all coming along nicely, and really looking forward to ESB!!!

I commented on that droid because it was smack in the middle of the floor, if it was powered down you'd think it would find a spot out of the way to shut down.

I imagine it's meant to be assisting Chewie (like the one we see when Luke is saying goodbye) maybe just having it's head looking up and tilting over to look at Han would be enough motion.

As always it's your baby but maybe just adding a little animation could create the impression that it's doing something but as always it's up to you Ady.

Dead and incongruous props do take away from the perceived realism of an environment (it's not as bad as the medical droids at the Rebel Briefing in ROTJ though, airing my pet peeve again, sorry).

I reckon some of these bugger's 'systems' are being affected by the coldness at this base.

Pah, shoddy workmanship if you ask me....or they were sourced from a Jawa....

Please don't put extra features on the Blu Ray version!  I hate it when movie companies do that to push the new format further, keep all versions even.

I also need to find out how to watch DL-AVCHD on my laptop.  Would VLC player play that?

I think he meant that either the AVCHD would have the same special features as the DVD-9, or it wouldn't have any at all.

Keep in mind that there is a way to compress a 720p film to fit within a 4.7gb file size (there are a TON of these on tehp@r@dox) and look 720p (don't ask me how they do it, but they do it).  If that is the case, it would allow a 720p film to be put onto a DVD 9, with a good 2gb to 4 gb for any sort of menus and/or extras

Does anyone think that Vader's entrance in the Hoth battle is weak?  He comes out of nowhere.

Why isn't there going to be a ground battle on Hoth?  I know that it would take alot of time to do, but it would make sense if there was one added.  Mabey if Lucas does an edit, this will be added.

I think some PT music should be added.  Nothing noticible, but just background music.  The PT's music is much more epic than hearing the same old Imperial March every scene.  Mix in a sad version of force theme from the PT when the Empire is close to winning.

At least add some epic music to the Vader/Luke scene.

Anakins Betrayal would work somewhere to.

Yes, we should totally add some CG shots of an Imperial Shuttle landing.
It could bump a stormtrooper on the head when it lands, that would be funny! ESB could use some more jokes.

Yeah, it's called Star WARS, not Star PLOT! What's with all the talking anyway?

Yeah, the OT soundtracks are horrible, good thing they didn't reuse the same music over and over again in the prequels!

Totally, it feels too much like a personal battle right now, it needs to feel LEGENDARY

Comes out of nowhere? Veers tells him that he can start his landing, then we hear announcements that the Imperials have entered the base, then we see them burst into the command centre. So how can he have come from nowhere? It's also certainly not a weak entrance.

Why does there need to be a ground battle? It would just be adding something for the sake of it really. The Empire have these huge metal beasts who's main objective is to destroy the shield generator. They have no need to risk wasting ground troops when the walkers can easily do this job. Only when the shield is down do the ground troops need to go in. We don't need to see it though.

No! No! No! The PT music is more epic? You have got to be kidding me. ESB has one of the best soundtracks of all time. The PT scores just don't come anywhere close to the masterpieces John Williams did for ANH & ESB (not overkeen on ROTJ's score though but still leagues ahead of what we got for the PT). I stated many times that there will be no added music and definitely no music from the PT in ESB:R. The score works perfectly as it is and doesn't need hacking up just to add snippets from the PT scores with themes that have nothing to do with what is happening on screen

And like i have said many times the PT need to be made to fit in with the OT and not the other way around. The only reason i added "battle of the heroes" into ANH was that this was the rematch between Obi-Wan & Vader so that helped tie in the two trilogies.

yeh, i saw the advert today. It will be interesting which versions they will be playing because usually ITV use the 1997 SE versions for ANH & ESB.

Adywan, you are right about all of that.  That makes total sense.  I just see it in my head and it looks so good, but I wasn't being realistic.  Now that I think about it, I don't know what I was thinking. Can't wait 'til 2010.  This looks better than ANH.

Mabey this won't sound stupid.  How about showing a cut scene of Yoda meditating and reacting to Lukes failure at Bespin?

Also, what are the plans of showing Coruscant in the OT?  I heard that it is a possibility.

Damn right you are Ady. That is exactly what I hated about the PT. If someone in the movie said they needed to drop a deuce, George would have shot them in the bathroom and would've had Ric Olie commentate the process.

Again you are right. Adding PT music to an already perfectly scored ESB is like adding vinegar to a cappuccino.

Out of all the soundtracks I own, ESB has to be the one I listen to the most. ESB and ANH were perfect. ROTJ was in most places, but the real jems were on the latter.

John Williams was like a modern day Mussorgsky, Stravinsky or any 'sky' that ever lived on those 2 soundtracks. I would pair them with my Beethoven collection easily.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas
