I used to lurk around the site for many years hoping the DVDs would include the original versions and finding out to my horror that they would not (so it must of been sometime in 2003 when I first read items here, I think it was just the petition and an update???).

Then I discovered the forums read the ta'dos regarding the SE and GOUT DVD sets, kept popping in to read about various fan edits after watching the magnoliafan edits and then I saw the comparison sheet for ANH:R.

The first time I saw the comparison sheet I thought it was a very good photoshop wishlist (like the one doubleofive has compiled for ROTJ) then I read it was an actual alternate version of the film.

I will never half-arsed scan read items like that again (when I finally got to watch it I was blown away).

I rarely register for forums and the like but there was so much creativity going on here I had to do it, death wouldn't stop me from posting here (I hope Jay doesn't).

I was a lurker back in the days of the 'Classic Edition' trilogy, Deleted Magic, Building Empire and Returning to Jedi, but my visiting the site was sporadic for a while. Then, after learning of Revisited, I felt compelled to join. :)

Anyway, sorry to drag everyone off topic and into 'nostalgia mode' :p

I was standing in the shower thinking to myself "I wonder if there's a community of people who are working on restoring the original trilogy in its unaltered form." Turns out there was such a community doing that and so much more.

Been lurking around for a few weeks.  Just wanted to say I've enjoyed a lot of what I've been seeing/reading, despite having not posted in a while.

I was a lurker. My motivation was to find hi-rez star wars posters. I joined when I found ANH:R. But ESB:R has made me stay.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

So Ady, having just finished reading the ANH:R thread, and learning some things i never knew, are you planning on releasing a soundtrack like you did with ANH:R? Or are there not enough music changes in this edit to justify such a companion?

a soundtrack? basicly an edited version of the ANH soundtrack right?

I was wondering about this too.  I don't recall a soundtrack release for ANH:R, but maybe I missed it?

I thought I was the only one. If this is true, I bet it sounds amazing. The problem with the official soundtracks is how badly they were transferred to cd. They removed hiss and removing hiss always results in loss of detail. ABC's soundtrack set was the only one I have actually listened to from here. It sounded great. I would like to get my hands on Ady's. Now, when we are talking about soundtrack, don't you guys mean the isolated score on the DVD-9?

While making the isolated score, Ady exported it, split it into tracks and made a CD release complete with cover, insert and back cover.  I have it in my ANHR Archive at home.  I'm sure if Ady does an isolated score for ESBR he'd do it again.

Yeah. I only found it myself yesterday by going through the whole entire thread. I have no idea what page it's on though...

EDIT: Here it is. Found it in my browsing history.

There was a fix released for the back cover which was missing some track listings. Can't find that yet though.

Just uploaded it myself rather than going through the topic again.

I've lurked here since there was a debate in the forum about an alternative cut someone swore they saw in theatres with different sound fx, scenes, etc.

That was sometime between TPM and AOTC I think. I've been hooked since.

Finally got around to joining this forum, and just want to say that Adywan, you are doing amazing work and I really hope the Lucas crew is watching what you do so they can learn from it and fix things for the Blu-Ray releases!

How do you know one or two "Lucas crew" aren't already on the forum?

Whether they are or not, Lucas is unlikely to pay any attention to what we think, even if some of the work people on the forum produce is better than what they give us. Wow, did I say better? Seems I did.

But no, Lucas is not interested in what fan editors do.

Thanks guys.

Well the only reason I would think they would, or even Lucas, is that I know a lot of them love the EU so maybe they would look it these projects. (Even though technically this isn't EU haha)

I've read that George Lucas did watch The Phantom Edit, so it wouldn't suprise me if he had watched Star Wars: Revisited as well.

I think you'd be surprised how many ILMers and fx artists are fans of this project and others of its kind. :D
