Wow. His name is Gino. I wonder if that's Gino Acevedo. He used to work with Rick Baker.

He possibly didn't the Godzilla film or NuGalactica.

^ Scary that some dude can replicate Yoda better than the team who created him for TPM.

I thought it was the same puppet in TPM just the lighting and puppetmaster sucked and the puppet was getting old and deformed.

EDIT: Nevermind, apparently that was just a rumour and it WAS redesigned. My mistake.

It is not, but I am sure that he wished he was.. Gino is an hardcore OOT purist, and can sometimes be quite obnoxious about that, so good luck getting him in on this project ...

How might I go about donating?  And secondly, what sort of $ goal are you looking at?  I just don't wanna feel like I'm being cheap for something as worthwhile as this.

Adywan's PayPal address is in his signature. Also, I don't think I'm out of line if I say don't feel any pressure to donate any more than you're comfortable with, or to match anyone. It's not a contest.

Oh...well that makes sense. (the email address part)

Definitely not out of line, everyone can agree it's not a contest.  I'd just feel most comfortable making a donation I can afford somewhat relative to the total $ Ady needs (if he wants to give out that info)

Goddamnit I can't wait for this.

I decided to create my own concept which mixes the two versions:

Note that I based it on the original GOUT one.  In this variant, most of the original lighting parameters are kept and the new building Leia is in is now smaller and somewhat more colour-matched, making the entire scene look as if it's higher from the surface of the city and giving back that sense of perspective while keeping some new 2004 SE elements.

very nice mock-up. the main problem i have with that shot is the previous fly-through scene which would mean having to do a lot of work to match the colouring of the buildings.

That is provided that you have to keep the fly-through.  Personally, if it meant waiting a few months longer, I would prefer the overall shot to look like this, even if you have to alter and enhance the fly-through (if you keep it) to match this.

Check this out, if Adywan ever needed some new shots of Yoda for TESB:R he should ask this guy for use of his Yoda puppet, superb work !! Mind you, this guy is probably in the US and Ady's here in the UK, oh well !!

My brain just exploded out of my eyesockets.  That is about the most amazing reproduction of a prop I have ever seen!

That said, I don't know where additional Yoda footage is needed in ESB.  It might be interesting as a 'Force ghost' in some radical ROTJ edit.  But that is a topic for somewhere else.

I think this prop would be quite excellent as far as replacement shots of Yoda in the eventual PREQUEL:REVISITED series.

Along the same lines, is there any donation that would be considered too small, Ady, or is anything and everything helpful? Also, is there any way of donating that minimizes a Paypal cut taken out, and maximizes the funds given to you?

Take care,

anything and everything is helpful. paypal is the easiest even though paypals cut is a pain in the ass because i can keep all the funds in one place and also because a lot of the materials i'm using i can get cheaper on ebay so paypal is ideal.

Prognosis:

I loved the new clip! Yoda is full of life now, especially when he says, "You will become an agent of evil." I remember that the puppet's mouth movement was terribly unconvincing in the originals which "takes one out" of the fantasy and the suspension on the ordinary. The new mouth movement and expressions are subtle but powerful. Adywan is a great magician!

I do have a critique. When Ady enlarged Obi Wan so that he fits the size of Yoda in the scene there is a very noticeable loss of resolution. Two ways around this: return Obi Wan to original size and place some branches in front of him to show that he is some distance behind Yoda; or shrink Yoda a little so that he fits in with the original Obi Wan.

I loved the shot of Cloud City. The clouds really give dimension to the previously flat and obviously painted shot. The red sky car (I don't know what they are called) is a bit jarring though since it contrasts the beautiful sky scene with a very passionate red. I know some of the shots were temps and are still under construction. I hope my thoughts are somewhat useful.

Did I miss a clip? The one with Obi being closer to Yoda?

It's probably the new clip you get to see after sending a donation to Ady.

The Yoda puppet is made by Gino Sabbatino. He has a forum at:

http://www.starwarspropaganda.com/

Gino can be somewhat....abrasive.He tends to divide the prop community a bit.People either really like him or cant stand him.Ady if you wanted me to ask him about that Yoda I could as I know him quite well.

He does some great work such as his trooper helmets and his busts like the Emperor and Yoda.As for being an OT purist....well yes but he has done a lot of work on replicating the Darth Maul costume so not entirely.

I don't know. I donated, got the clip, and Ady said it was cool to discuss the clip in this thread. Take that as you will.

As for the clip, yes, the image of Cloud City in motion is awesome!

For the record I have made my donation, and I have done so for the benefit of this project. And I am excited to enjoy some of the fruits of that by watching the new clip (which I have not recieved a link to yet).

So in saying that, I'm not speaking about myself, but I have a question.

To be blunt, when will those of us who are not donating get a chance to see the clip? And also, how far do you intend to go with this "donate to watch" sceme?

I don't mean to be rude, I'm just bieng curious.

I will say that I have my own issues with "how far is too far" when dealing with these kinds of projects, my own included. I of course have only good will towards yours.
