I have a question, and this is going back to fixing errors originally made and not fixed by ILM and George Lucas, but half of the blaster battler towards when Leia, Chewbacca, the droids, and Lando get back on the MF there are things that I hope can be fixed.   When they are shooting the blasters if you look carefully you shells be expelled from the weapons like if they were real pistols.   I hope that will be fixed.  This not fixed in A New Hope Revisted, but perhaps no one saw it before. You can see it when Leia is shooting the stormtroopers when she is with Luke.

And Adywan the images that you posted are fantastic (why ILM didnt do it scares me alot).  There is no reason to nit pick anything in my opinion.   Cant wait for further updates and the trailer.

The reason ILM didnt do it has nothing to do with ILM but everything to do with Lucas and the budget he gave them.

proving the point that ILM is not passionate about Star Wars, the very reason they exist is because of Star Wars.  If the personel were wanting to do it they would have done the work for free, dont you think?

ANH (Lukes lightsaber was green somehow in 2004 DVD release) I rest my case.

To take their side a bit they are people doing job and they are not as obsessed with everything being technically perfect in SW as we are.

ILM Has to do a task. GL or whatever other, set some dos and don'ts. They had deadlines and they had to follow orders. Plus they hadn't/ haven't to do only a special edition. If they said to leave the skies or the effects as it have then they did it.

I dont like the way that all blame ILM, but maybe we should the man who gave the directions.

Ady from the other side, willfull decided to start this project. I think he didnt rushed and he dont have a supervisor over his head to manage his moves and creativity.

It's also in line with being more obsessed with every detail in a book than an author who wrote the story.

again we are going beyond what I was originally talking about: bullit shells ejected from blasters in the movies.  To be removed or kept in the movie??

Alright... I keep forgetting to ask.  What is GOUT?

its a sharp pain in ur foot that is from a type of crystal that grows in there. its hard to put pressure on it and is mostly caused from eating sea food. a fever and vagueness may occur also.

Alright... I keep forgetting to ask.  What is GOUT?

GOUT stands for "George's Original Unaltered Trilogy."  It refers to the 2006 DVD release which has the 2004 SE on disc 1 and the original theatrical versions on disc 2.

The acronym started because Lucasfilm advertised it as the "Original Unaltered Trilogy," but when we got it we realized it was just the 1993 Definitive Collection laserdisc masters, completely unchanged and unremastered (except there was a brand new telecine of the first shot of "Star Wars" that used the original, pre-ANH crawl) - so we referred to it as "George's" Original Unaltered Trilogy since it wasn't exactly what we had in mind for an official release of the OUT.

So the acronym became GOUT, and every time the GOUT is brought up in threads using that acronym we get nice ads that advertise "homemade" and otherwise sketchy remedies for gout, which, as rcb mentioned, is a foot condition.

i haven't got the Star Wars scripts unfortunately but i would be interesting to read the descriptions for the scenes.

Here's a good site for most of them.

thanks for the link. Bigdaddyvader was kind enough to send me the scripts. There is some interesting stuff in the ESB script. haven't got all the way through it yet though.

I know this might be going back in the thread a bit but always remember Ady that if you're having any problems with the asteroid chase scene just film a couple of big ass spuds....that's what ILM did......lol

lol. yeh a bag of spuds from Tesco for the background asteroids. love it.

I will probably be making some asteroids to film for extra elements

Besides, you could still have the siren bit... <:)

That is a good idea ;)

If Ady likes this idea, I'm currently playing Jedi Outcast and there is a nice Klaxon noise as the Doomgiver falls apart.

no, i don't like the idea of adding a siren. the scene doesn't need it. he gave the announcement, which would have been heard city wide, so the need for a siren to signal the evacuation seems pointless.

I decided to create my own concept which mixes the two versions:

Note that I based it on the original GOUT one.  In this variant, most of the original lighting parameters are kept and the new building Leia is in is now smaller and somewhat more colour-matched, making the entire scene look as if it's higher from the surface of the city and giving back that sense of perspective while keeping some new 2004 SE elements.

very nice mock-up. the main problem i have with that shot is the previous fly-through scene which would mean having to do a lot of work to match the colouring of the buildings.

yeh, this was discussed when i was doing ANH:R. the shell casings are virtually invisible and have never bothered me so i decided not to do anything about them.

well things are slowing down with the edit at the moment. I'm concentrating on the trailer and building the new sets and models but funds have now totally dried up and i still have only half the materials needed to make all this stuff. i still haven't been able to get the finemolds falcon and then there's the styrene, fibre glass and resin amongst other stuff needed. i get some bloody stupid ideas and building all these things i think could well be one of them. But at the end of the day it will be something that enhances ESB:R

so i had an idea as a little incentive for anyone that was thinking of donating: anyone that donates between now and 14th may will get to view the completed trailer a week before its release date along with a brand new clip that will not be seen until the edit is released.

I'm just worried about the shift workers who are having a kip while Lando delivers his announcement.

Bespin Worker 1: "Did I just hear the Baron warning us about the Imperials taking over the city?"

Bespin Worker 2: "Go back to sleep darling, it was just another one of those funky cheese nightmares"

Bespin Worker 1: "Did you put the cat out?"

Bespin Worker 2: "No! it's still burning in the oven

Bespin Worker 1: "I don't know I've got a bad feeling about this"

Here is something to ponder (from the EMPIRE 4th draft):

183. EXT REBEL GUN EMPLACEMENT - HOTH
The icy wind picks up as the battle rages. Rebel and Imperial troops are firing at each other at point blank range.

184. EXT SNOW BY REBEL GUN EMPLACEMENT - HOTH
A walker steps on several rebel troops as they attempt to flee.

______________

212. EXT MILLENNIUM FALCON - TIE FIGHTER - STAR DESTROYER - SPACE

FULL SHOT, SPACE, with the white planet of Hoth in the lower part of the frame. The Millennium Falcon speeds away from the planet and over camera, closely followed by one huge Star Destroyer and six tiny Tie fighters which also race past camera. The slow moving Star Destroyer fills the frame as it plows ever forward.

Don't know how you could add this (if its added) but some more suggestions none-the-less...

Here is something else I found... interesting:

241. EXT MILLENNIUM FALCON - TIE FIGHTERS - ASTEROID BELT.

FULL SIDE VIEW, TRUCKING with the Falcon as it dodges an asteroid. Several smaller asteroids explode as they collide with the hamburger-shaped ship. PAN with the ship as it banks away from the camera. Four Tie fighters follow, one of which connects with an asteroid and explodes. The other Tie Fighters are pelted with smaller explosions.

I read that when the Blockade Runner design was not going to be used for the Millenium Falcon (in ANH), Lucas and someone else (I think Gary Kurtz) were on a beach talking about what to do with the Falcon, when Lucas took a bite out of a hamburger, looked at it and, well, the rest is history...

There's an excuse for another Ady cameo!

Or maybe Jar Jar. :)

Check this out, if Adywan ever needed some new shots of Yoda for TESB:R he should ask this guy for use of his Yoda puppet, superb work !! Mind you, this guy is probably in the US and Ady's here in the UK, oh well !!

My brain just exploded out of my eyesockets.  That is about the most amazing reproduction of a prop I have ever seen!

That said, I don't know where additional Yoda footage is needed in ESB.  It might be interesting as a 'Force ghost' in some radical ROTJ edit.  But that is a topic for somewhere else.
